Not my will, but Yours be done… – Easter reminds us of the inexpressibly great gift of salvation we have received through Jesus' death and resurrection. Jesus was betrayed by His friends, forsaken by God, wrongly accused and given a death sentence. He endured severe punishment and was disrespected by being mocked. Yet, Jesus took all of this on Himself so that we could have LIFE in abundance, eternal HOPE and joy-filled PEACE. (Luke 22:39-42)
A Heart like His! – Why do we desire to have a heart like Jesus? Because it makes a difference in everything, from our own internal peace to our external impact on the lives of others. If our purpose in this world is to lead others to Jesus and reveal Him to those around us, we must have a heart like His! (Psalm 139: 23-24)
Grounded in Christ! – As we look at nature, we see how the roots of trees and flowers go deep into the earth for their sustenance. Similarly, our strength to stand in every situation is found as we go deep into God's Word, firmly rooted in Christ. This involves casting our cares upon Him, knowing that He is faithful, our place of salvation and rest, and the One who nourishes us to bear good, lasting fruit through all the seasons of our lives. (Psalm 62:7-8 & Proverbs 11:30)
A New Season... – For many of us in the Northern Hemisphere, signs of Spring are all around us. From flowers pushing up through the cold earth, to buds on the trees, to days lengthened with extra sunlight. Those in the Southern Hemisphere are enjoying the warmth of autumn beauty combined with the crispness of a fresh breeze. May all these signs point us to the blessed renewal we have in JESUS alone, the gift of a new season, transformation and growth, and the wonder of new life. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Our good-good Shepherd! – Psalm 23 contains probably some of the most well-known Bible verses in the world. Yet, many people hold a head knowledge of this Scripture, without experiencing the heart knowledge, the peace that comes as we allow the Lord to be OUR Shepherd. May we, with humbled hearts, worship our good-good Shepherd, as we draw closer to Him and experience His loving provision, protection, guidance, and everlasting way. (Psalm 23:1-6)
Pressing On… – We can entrust all of our plans into the loving and caring hands of our Heavenly Father. God’s will, plans and timing are always perfect. God is in control of our future. However, we are responsible for living according to His calling right now. As we rejoice in His goodness, may we allow Him to examine our hearts, and to help us follow where He leads us, knowing that we have a mission to shine our heavenly lights and bring hope to the nations. (Philippians 3:13-14)
Havoc in the Heavenlies! – How blessed we are that we have been given the gift of prayer amid the uncertainty of our world today? Jesus knew, over 2000 years ago, that it was vital to His Kingdom and our well-being to spend time before Him in prayer. May we realise that even though we may not see answers on this earth, as Oswald Chambers reminds us, "The biggest answers to our prayers are in the realm of the unseen. A praying saint performs far more havoc among the unseen forces of darkness than we have the slightest notion of." (Ephesians 6:12)
Living as Children of the Light! – Jesus is the glorious Light of the world that illuminates all darkness. Let’s allow His Light in us to bring hope, love and peace to our homes, families, churches, and a lost, dark world. As we make our Redeemer and King the focal point of our Christian walk, we build and become lighthouses that lead others from darkness into freedom, from despair into hope, and from burned-out ruins into everlasting life! (John 12:46)
Growing in our prayer life! – “Lord, we stand with grateful hearts today, realising the importance of prayer. Not only does it draw us closer to You, but it is also an opportunity for us to fellowship with You. Please set us free from idols or distractions so that we can be found in the stillness of Your presence as we wholeheartedly seek You. Cleanse us, refresh us, and help us grow and reach our full potential for Your Glory and Kingdom purposes.” (Colossians 1:9-10)
The importance of an obedient heart… – As we turn our focus towards the state of our hearts today, may we ask God to create in us a clean heart, a renewed spirit, and a posture of submission towards Him as we trust in His faithfulness. A life that radiates God’s honour is marked by obedience and bold confidence in the path He has called us to. Let us fully devote our hearts to be springs of living water for the glory of our Heavenly Father. (Proverbs 4:23)
