Grounded in Christ!
Read:
Psalm 62:7-8 (AMP): On God my salvation and my glory rest; He is my rock of [unyielding] strength, my refuge is in God. Trust [confidently] in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us.
Proverbs 11:30 (NIV): The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Remember that the difference between lush greenery, and a desert, is water. It is the same in the lives of people. Those who continually drink of the Holy Spirit, Christ’s Living Water, enjoy lives that are lush with peace, purpose, and hope. From this place of nourishment and stillness before our Lord, we find rest for our souls, and we can entrust our lives to God. However, those who live without Jesus, or try to control their own destinies and reject His authority experience meaningless fear and anxiety about today, and their future. As followers of Jesus, let us make most of our time here on earth. Let us spend the gift of time well, being nourished and fed by Jesus and submitting our lives to Him. Let’s choose a posture of rest (abiding in Jesus) and trust Him to fill us with His living water, so we can flourish, bear much fruit, and be a blessing to others as we glorify our Heavenly Father. May our lives truly bear the fruit of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5:22: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control!
Be grounded in Christ! If we are not grounded, we are easily tossed about and uprooted by every storm, wind, or obstacle that comes our way. But in Christ, we have everything we need for time and eternity. As we grow in our relationship with God, we stay rooted and grounded in Christ, because of His grace, love and affection toward us. We become what we behold. As we are firmly rooted and grounded in Christ and His Word, we become more and more like Him. So, let us go in peace knowing that our lives are built on a rock-solid foundation.
Pray:
Lord, we know John 2:24 says that You know what’s within us. Even if we want to do Your will, we have an internal fight against the flesh, against ourselves and even against the devil. But we know that You are much bigger than all of that You never test us more than we can handle. We know this, so we believe and put our faith in it, and we ask You to do another miracle in our lives. Move our hearts, move our comfort zones, Lord. Here we are, we want to bless You with our lives, and we ask You to bless other people more than we can do on our own. Use us and give us words that are better than the words we have ourselves. Help us to serve people with more than what we have – more time, more resources – so that we produce fruit that is tastier than what we can cultivate ourselves. We want to bear fruit to Your glory and Your honour. May people see that fruit and see our lights shining in such a way that they recognise You, and glorify and thank You.
We thank You Father God, for this opportunity that You give us the gift of life every single day. I pray that we use our time with You wisely. We ask Father, that You would be with us as we encounter people, as we encourage people and live this life, for what You have called us. We pray Lord Jesus, for Your mighty hand of favour and blessing and we just say, ‘thank You God’.
Father God, we say we trust You Lord, but then we often take back the worries and problems; because we are filled with fear and think we can handle things ourselves. Help us God, to let go! To trust, rest, and wait in silence even in the storms and chaos of our lives. Keep our eyes focused on You Lord, and the cross. May we spend intimate time in Your Word, so that the presence of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Jesus Christ. Thank You for freeing us daily. Thank You that You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, and that we can experience true freedom in You!
*O Lord, our world is shaking, and many of our personal worlds are shaking too. At our best Lord, we are weak, we are vulnerable, and we cannot stand firm on our own. So, God, may we be rooted and grounded in Christ. As we put our roots down deep into the soil of His love, His Word, and His gospel, may we find in Christ and Christ alone, all that our hearts need and long for. And Father, may our lives testify to our world the beauty of Christ, the supremacy of Christ, the sufficiency of Christ and the glory of Christ.
Father, I thank You that we can look to You in these days for guidance, for care, for love. But we know that You are the One that will see us through, and we thank You for that. And Lord, if there is anybody here today who doesn’t know you, I pray that they will take that step of faith and commit their lives to You. That is why we live, we live to make this decision. We thank You for the Lord Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. Bless us in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Amen.
