Jesus, the Light of the World!
Read:
John 8:12 (NIV): When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Act:
Christmas time… the most wonderful time of the year! Our Christmas trees are beautifully decorated, and our gifts are already waiting for us to unwrap them. As I laid in the dark the other night, staring at our Christmas tree lights flickering and lighting up the house, it made me think…
This year, may our Christmas tree lights remind us of the following:
THE RED LIGHTS – a warning that we should not forget what Christmas is really about. Jesus was born to us, and it is a feast to celebrate Him! It’s all about Jesus. He is the light of this world.
THE ORANGE LIGHTS – the wonderful gift we received. The Holy Spirit is with us every day to guide and teach us.
THE GREEN LIGHTS – growth. We must remember to grow daily in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
THE BLUE LIGHTS – water. Jesus is our source of Living Water. Without Him, we cannot exist.
THE YELLOW LIGHTS — happiness and peace, God’s goodness and grace. Let us say thank you every day for the privilege of being called children of God.
THEN my eye caught the most beautiful, most important light, the shiny star on top of the Christmas tree, and I remembered that Jesus is our only Light, Redeemer and Saviour who came to earth to save us. To be born in a manger, in a stable in Bethlehem, to pay the price for our sins so that we can live forever with our true Light.
May we be light-bearers for Jesus this Christmas!
Prayer:
Father God, thank You for loving us so much that You have given Your only Son, so that we who believe in Him, will not perish but have eternal life. Thank You, Jesus, for Your light that shines through all darkness. Help us to be Your light-bearers this Christmas. We celebrate You and love You! In Your precious name, Amen.
