The Fruit of the Spirit: Love

Read:

Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV): “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

We are excited to begin a new series: The fruit of the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit comes to stay in our hearts the day we accept Jesus’ invitation to be our Lord and Saviour. The more we learn about Jesus and the closer we live to Him, and for Him, the more ‘fruit’ grows on the ‘tree‘ in our hearts – the Holy Spirit’s fruit.

The first fruit of the Spirit we want to live out this month is: Love.

What is love?
Love can be experienced emotionally or spiritually.
Each person experiences love differently, and we also get different kinds of love.
Think about the love you feel for your family, towards your friends or teacher, or towards your pet, in comparison to how much you love Jesus…

Love has many different forms, but what matters most is how love is reflected in our lives.
So let us show Jesus-love to everyone this month by:
– Helping a friend who is struggling;
– Being obedient;
– Helping out at home and at school;
– Being friendly with our brothers, sisters and friends;
– Helping the elderly;
– Giving our best at school and on the sports field; and
– Being willing to give something of ourselves to others.

God is love! His love never runs out like people’s love. He always has time for us, and if we ask Him, He will always help us. God’s love is so great that He gave us His only Son, Jesus so that we can call Him our Heavenly Father. Wow! That is love!

So, let us learn from Jesus and love our neighbours as ourselves, because that is what God commanded us to do. It’s not always easy to love everyone, especially if they mistreat us, but we can do it with the Holy Spirit’s help!

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing love. Thank you that we can learn from You what real love means. Help us to live out the fruit of love, so that others can experience Your love! We praise Your great and almighty name! Amen.
