The Armour of God: The Shield of Faith…
Read:
Our scripture for today is from Ephesians 6:14-16 (NIV): “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one“.
Act:
This month, we are looking at the fourth piece of the Armour of God: THE SHIELD OF FAITH.
Did you know that our faith in God, Jesus and the Bible acts as a shield over our lives to cover any doubts or struggles?
Faith is not just believing in something or accepting the beliefs of our parents, teachers or others, but faith is believing that Jesus is our Saviour and that we can have eternal life through Him.
The more we grow in our faith, the less likely we are to get hurt by the schemes and lies of the devil to keep us from believing in Jesus and in the Word of God.
In Genesis 3:1, Satan says to Eve: “Did God really say…”
Through this scripture, we learn that the devil will always try to get us to question what God says or doubt that He is faithful to us, always with us and that God’s Word is our strong foundation. That is why it is so important to know what we believe and why we believe it.
So, let us remember this month that:
God is faithful. He is always with us, and we don’t have to fight the battle against the devil in our strength, but rely on God’s strength to WIN against sin and the flaming attacks from Satan.
God is trustworthy, and His Word is our compass for life and the truth that sets us free! So, we can stand firm, knowing that God is our shield and place of safety. As we learn to trust Him more, He will protect and cover us with His unending love!
Prayer:
Father God, thank You for giving us a shield of faith to cover and protect us. We are so grateful that Your Word is the truth and that we can believe everything You say about us. Help us spend more time with You and in Your Word, so that we can learn how to stand firm and victorious in our faith. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
