The Armour of God: The Breastplate of Righteousness…
Read:
Ephesians 6:14 (NIV): “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.”
Act:
This month we’re going to look at the second piece of the Amour of God: THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.
This is a vital piece of our spiritual armour because it protects our hearts. As Proverbs 4:23 teaches us: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
What is in our hearts, flows out into how we behave, react and live. Our hearts ultimately determines the direction of our lives. And to be able to stand in right standing before God, we need to receive the greatest gift from Jesus – His sacrifice on the cross. Because of Jesus, we can enter into God’s presence. That means that we receive grace and through the Holy Spirit, it helps us do what is right, pure, noble and kind; and it also protects us from sinning.
Our sin not only hurts us, but it can also hurt other people that we care about.
Satan tries to make us grumpy with a bad attitude like when we don’t get something we really want, or we can act too bossy with our friends.
He also tries to hurt our feelings like when a friend calls us a name or when we say something to a friend, and it hurts their feelings.
But God has given us the breastplate of righteousness because He loves us, and He knows what’s best for us. He wants us to stand firm so that we can do everything that He has called us to do.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You have given us the gift of righteousness through Your amazing Son Jesus. Help us to stand firm against the plans of Satan, so that we can do what You have called us to do.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
