God is on our side…
Read:
Psalm 46:1-3 (TPT): “God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble – more than enough and always available whenever I need you. So, we will never fear even if every structure of support were to crumble away. We will not fear even when the earth quakes and shakes, moving mountains and casting them into the sea. For the raging roar of stormy winds and crashing waves cannot erode our faith in you”.
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Run to our Helper – He is our ‘more than enough’, and is always available when we need Him. God is fighting for us. He is our place of safety, and is always ready to help when we need Him. When we are in the presence of our Lord, He will provide a place of shelter and protection from the dangers of the storms we face, the pain we endure, and the losses that we suffer. We therefore do not have to be afraid – “We [can] stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake, before the rush and roar of oceans, and the tremors that shift mountains” (Psalm 46:1-3 (MSG)). The Lord is our rock, fortress, deliverer, and shield – the stronghold we can run to. There is no one like our God and there is nothing that can ever separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). He will always be there to help us.
Make the right choices. Each one of us has a choice to make – we can choose to succumb to the pressures of our circumstances, or we can choose to position ourselves in our Lord. We can choose to have unshakable confidence in our Lord, we can choose to trust Him and to find our hope in Him. We can choose to allow Him to fight on our behalf, while we confidently wait on Him for our breakthrough. We can choose to seek Him in all circumstances, to spend time in His presence, and to trust His perfect timing. We can choose to allow Him to strengthen us, to rescue us and to restore us. All to the glorify of His almighty and magnificent name!
Stand firm in our faith. 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 reiterates our fragile condition – as breakable jars of clay. Tragedy, difficulty and storms are unavoidable on our journey through life – but as children of God we have an unbreakable source of strength. We know the Helper, so we are able to stand as unshakable, victorious “vessels”. With God on our side, we may be pressed from different sides, but we are never crushed. We may be perplexed (not knowing what to do), but we don’t need to descend into depression or despair. We may be hunted down or rejected by others, but we are never abandoned or left forsaken by God. We may be knocked down, but we are never destroyed. Light shines brightest in darkness. Let’s abide in Christ so that we are filled with His brilliant light and the strength to stand strong. Let’s allow God to perfect, strengthen, establish and settle us (make us into what we ought to be) (1 Peter 5:10).
Pray:
Lord, we love You passionately. Thank you for being the bedrock beneath our feet, our forever firm fortress, our pathway of escape and our tower of rescue. You are our strength, the shield around us, our salvation’s ray of brightness – shining hope and life across the earth. We praise Your holy name. Thank You for delivering us from our distress. Thank You for turning Your face toward us and for rescuing us, each time that we need You. Regardless of how the world around us shakes and trembles, thank You for reaching down from heaven to make a way for us through our storms. Thank You for reaching down into our darkness to rescue us! Thank You for taking us out of our calamity and chaos, out of the depths of our despair! Father, we worship You, we love You and we praise You for being on our side. May our lives glorify You! Amen.
