Fixing our thoughts on Jesus
Read:
Hebrews 3:1 (AMP): “Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest”.
Act:
Let us be determined this week to fix our thoughts on Jesus by:
Keeping our hearts sensitive and aligned to our Father God’s will. Through Jesus, we can enter into God’s rest. We find peace, contentment and joy when we live according to God’s will. Let’s deliberately seek God’s will; let’s listen when the Holy Spirit prompts or directs us and submit our own will to our Father’s will and His Word. When we are one with God – directed by His Spirit – our thoughts, eyes and entire being will point to Jesus.
Trusting our Lord always! Let’s keep a believing heart, trusting that we serve a good-good Father. He wants the best for us. If He said something will happen, He will bring it to fulfillment. He is faithful! Jesus is the centerpiece of everything we believe. He is trustworthy!
Spending time in God’s Word. We need to go further than just reading the Bible; we need to understand God’s Word. We need to discover and learn more about God’s character. We should memorise scripture and recite it often – especially when we are faced with difficult situations. We should pray scripture and meditate on it often; as we let our minds be renewed by God’s truth, His Word.
Worshiping. Let’s praise and give thanks to our Lord and focus our thoughts on His goodness and mercy through worship.
Spending time with other Christians. We are not alone. We are part of the body of Christ. Let’s reach out to one another, help and support each other. Let’s do life together, to the glory of our Lord.
Pray:
Father God, thank You that You are faithful. Jesus, may we be fully occupied with You – our thoughts, our entire being focused on You only. Renew our minds, soften our hearts and help us to fix our thoughts on You. Holy Spirit, remind us and put the desire in our hearts to be in constant prayer and communication with You. Reveal Your truth to us, Father, and take away any unbelief in our hearts. We trust You and our hope is in You. To You be all the glory! Amen.
