The greatest act of love
Read:
Romans 8:34-35 (AMP): “…Christ Jesus is the One who died [to pay our penalty], and more than that, who was raised [from the dead], and who is at the right hand of God interceding [with the Father] for us. Who shall ever separate us from the love of Christ?”
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Glorify and praise the most Beautiful Name of Jesus – the One who laid His life down so that we could experience freedom and life in abundance. He is our merciful, kind, all-sufficient, reliable, faithful friend and saviour. Jesus, our King, the One who defeated death and was raised to life again. Our Lord, leader, Prince of peace, defender, healer, intercessor, redeemer and saviour. He is our joy, light and hope. In and through Him, we have life!
Thank our Father God for the greatest gift and act of love. As Romans 5:6-8 in the Message paraphrase states it so beautifully: “Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him”.
Recommit our lives to Jesus. Jesus took all our sins upon Himself. He selflessly gave everything so that we could live free lives; and so that we could have an intimate relationship with our Father God. He is the Friend we can always rely upon – the One who leads and teaches us; the One who will never leave or forsake us. He is truth and hope! He defeated death and darkness, so that we could experience eternal life! In the greatest act of love, He obediently gave Himself as a sacrifice for our salvation.
Pray:
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain. Jesus, we praise and glorify Your holy, holy Name. You sit on heaven’s mercy seat. Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come. We worship and adore You. We bless and honour Your holy Name today – together with Your creation, the stars and mountains, trees, flowers, the sun and moon, the sea, rivers and desert, the animal kingdom, and all the work of Your hands. You are King of kings, our Prince of peace, and we are filled with awestruck wonder when we look at You, the cross and the empty tomb. Jesus, thank You for life in and through You. We love and adore You. Amen.
