Hope, affliction and prayer

Read:

Romans 12:12 (NIV): “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer”.

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Constantly rejoice in the Hope that lives inside of us. We can live full and fruitful lives, filled with gratitude, joy and peace because of the confident expectation and blessed assurance of our future destiny. Our joy is not found in our circumstances, character, possessions or other people. No matter what we are facing, we can rejoice because of our confidence in Christ and the unfailing love of our Father God. Our heavenly home awaits us, what more could we hope for?

Remain steadfast and patient through tribulations. Being a Christian doesn’t exclude us from hard or difficult times. Distress and affliction are inevitable in our lives. But our hope is not found here. Jesus said: “In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous (be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy), for I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Because of Jesus, we can persevere through difficulty; we can keep our eyes on the goal; we can forget what lies behind and reach forward to what lies ahead (Philippians 3:13).

Pray continually. Let’s be devoted to prayer, continually seeking wisdom, guidance and strength to persevere through the ups and downs of our lives. The only way to live joyful and hopeful lives, is to spend time in our Father God’s presence, to seek Him and His advice first in everything. To let Him help us through life!

Pray:

Heavenly Father, we love You and we praise You for Your goodness and love that endures forever. Thank You Jesus, for hope towards an amazing future when You return. We devote ourselves today, to passionately pursue an intimate relationship with You. One where we are in constant dialogue with You. Thank You for giving us strength to persevere through tribulations – we know that that is how we grow in faith and character. All our hope and all our joy is in You only! Amen.
