Shine!
Read:
Matthew 5:14 (MSG): “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house”.
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Embrace the here and now. There is nothing accidental about who you are or where you live. God was intentional when He made you. He prepared you for your life specifically, even before you were born (Psalm 51:6). Before time began, God appointed the time and place in which you would live (Acts 17:26).
Step up and play our set apart role in God’s story. No one else can be you. No one else can play your role in the lives of those around you – or your part in the story of God. Our Father God has a special plan for each one of us. He planned and wrote the scripts for each of our lives. He also equipped us with the talents, gifts, understanding, wisdom and love we need to play our unique part – to shine our light.
Go back to God’s original and highest intention for us. God’s mandate for us is to seek Him, to reach out to Him and to find Him (Acts 17:27). He is our Hope. He is our Joy. For in Him we live and move! Our entire being is in Christ and for Christ. Our whole existence is to put God on display, to showcase His love, grace and hope; and to become children of Light (Acts 17:28).
Start acting like God’s set apart children. Let’s step up and proclaim the name of Jesus. Let’s take hold of the power and wisdom of the One living inside us. Let’s shine our lights! We are, because He is! We are a reflection of the One living in and through us.
Pray:
Father God, we praise Your holy name. Jesus, You are our source of life and light! We want to play our part in advancing Your Kingdom. We want our lives to shine for You! We want to bring light and hope in darkness. We want to shower the earth with Your love, grace and joy. Help us to reflect You well and to truly shine for You! We love You. Amen.
