Resting in God’s care

Read:

Psalm 56:3-4(NIV): “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise — in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Put our trust in our Father God. We can only be at peace when we believe our God is greater and stronger than our circumstances. Contentment is found when we step into God’s rest, knowing He cares for us, loves us and that He is in control.

Spend time with our Lord. Trust is based on relationship. Relationship is formed by spending time together and getting to know each other. Having an intimate relationship with our Father God, means we both know God and how He works. We can therefore put our trust in Him – for He is faithful, dependable, and steadfast in His love. He longs for us to rest in His provision.

Live our lives based on God’s reality, ability and provision. We fear and worry because we get stuck in our own realities, while disregarding God’s reality. We try to do things in our own ability, while disregarding our Lord’s direction and strength. We are preoccupied with getting more, while disregarding God’s provision and care for us.

Wait on the Lord. His timing is perfect. His plans for us are good. Know that God is on your side. We do not have to be afraid and we don’t have to rush or panic in any situation. Trusting God means seeking Him, patiently waiting, obeying His will and letting His Word guide us.

Pray:

Father God, You are mighty and in control. We sometimes feel overwhelmed and scared. We take things into our own hands, we panic and emotionally rush into things. Help us to seek You first in everything. Help us to wait on You for direction. Help us to trust You for provision and protection in every need. Help us to live by faith and not by sight. All our hope and trust is in You! We praise Your holy name! Amen.
