Perfect love…
Read:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV): “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…”
Act:
Love is described by words like affection, attachment, devotion, fondness, passion, kindness, compassion, adoration, warmth, desire, yearning, goodwill and the list goes on…
Let us be determined this week to practice perfect love.
Let us:
Love large and be incredibly patient. Patience means to endure and not allow challenges, frustrations or irritations to anger us. It involves trusting that our Heavenly Father is in control, that He is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving-kindness and truth (Exodus 34:6). Let’s be considerate of others and not self-seeking, overly sensitive or quick to anger or to take offense.
Be gentle and consistently kind and thoughtful toward all. Love cares more for others than for self. Let’s be quick to help others in need. Let’s show respect to others by lifting them up and speaking words of encouragement to them. Let’s joyfully celebrate honesty and be forgetful of the sins or wrongdoings of others. Let’s delight in what is right and true.
Stop comparing and jealously wanting what we don’t have. Let’s rather be grateful for the things we do have and the blessings we receive from our Lord – without boasting or being arrogant about them.
Never stop assuming the best about others, and trust God always and in all circumstances.
Never give up and never look back on past failures or defeat. Let’s rather keep going, finishing the race before us with strength and dignity to the glory of our Heavenly Father. Let’s smile about our future!
Never stop loving! Let’s devote ourselves to love our Father God with all our hearts, minds and souls. Let’s love ourselves – as we are His chosen, set-apart children. And let’s love others the way Jesus loves us!
Pray:
Father God, thank You for Your unconditional, infinite, indescribable, perfect love toward us. Help and teach us to love one another the way You love us. Help us to never stop loving – to never give up on love; and too respect, honour and passionately love on others. May others experience You through the way we love them. All for your glory.
Amen.
