God is merciful!

Read:

Exodus 34:6-7 (AMP): “Then the Lord passed by in front of him, and proclaimed: The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in loving-kindness and truth (faithfulness); keeping mercy and loving-kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin…”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to believe that GOD IS MERCIFUL:

Mercy is described as extending deep love, compassion, tenderness, kindness, pity and forgiveness toward someone who deserves punishment for wrong or ill-doing. The Bible teaches us that God is abundant in loving-kindness and overflowing with mercy towards all who call upon Him (Psalm 86:5). Because of sin we deserve judgement and death, BUT GOD, who is rich in mercy, and because of His great love, saved us and made us alive together with Christ. Through Jesus, we therefore have access to God and the exceeding riches of His grace and kindness toward us in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:3-7).

Let’s believe wholeheartedly that God’s mercy enables us to:

Live hope-filled lives. Regardless of the things we have done in the past, will do today, or our best efforts to not give in to fleshly desires in the future – we are likely to fall into the trap of our sinful nature. The good news is that our Father God is good, gentle, kind and tenderhearted – even when we don’t deserve it. His love towards us is unconditional, steadfast and unending. He is faithful, slow to anger and patient. His mercy and love triumphs over judgments and is stronger than our sin. When we call upon our Lord and repent of our sin, He will forgive us. (Psalm 86:5; 108:3) Because of Jesus, we can live hope-filled lives, free from the bondage of sin, alive in Christ our King!

Put God’s mercy on display. God extended His mercy to us through Jesus. Let’s praise and worship God in adoration for the gift of life, the forgiveness of our sin, and His tenderhearted compassion towards us. Let’s surrender ourselves to God, seek Him first and live according to what delights His heart. Let’s allow the Holy Spirit to transform us from the inside out. Let’s imitate God’s mercy towards us, by extending it to others. Let’s be quick to forgive, have compassion and show kindness towards others. Let’s love, value, respect and honour one another. Let’s celebrate with those who are full of joy and weep with those who grieve. Let’s speak life and blessing into all situations. Let’s do good to others and shine Jesus’ light of hope and life wherever we go! (Romans 12)

Pray:

Heavenly Father, we bless Your holy name. Thank You Jesus, for setting us free. Thank You for the power of Your salvation and the forgiveness of our sin. Father, thank You that Your loyal love will never run out on us. Thank You that Your mercies will never cease and that they are bestowed on us anew every day. Thank You that You are faithful! Help us to extend the mercy we so graciously receive from You, to those around us – putting Your glory on display for all the world to see! We love You and honour You! Amen.
