Extravagant love…
Read:
1 Corinthians 13:13 (TPT): “Until then, there are three things that remain: faith, hope, and love—yet love surpasses them all. So above all else, let love be the beautiful prize for which you run”.
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Examine our hearts and minds! Let’s take a deep look into how we treat others (and not just the people closest to us – but also the strangers we encounter). Are we rude, self-seeking, overly sensitive, easily angered, irritable, or frustrated if things don’t go according to our plans? Do we behave in a manipulative, condescending, or perhaps event hateful manner toward others? Or do we model our lives according to Jesus’ example – and treat others with patience, kindness and unselfish love?
Ask God to transform our hearts and renew our minds. Love is not static, and we need to be intentional to grow in love. We need to be intentional about reaching out to others, about showing love to them, and about looking for the best in them. Let’s ask our Heavenly Father to show us His love so that we can be imitators of that love to those around us. Love is foundational to our lives – even faith and hope are temporary, but love is eternal! Let’s ask our Lord to create a new awakening of loving affection in us toward others.
Pray:
Father God, thank You for the reminder today of Your amazing love. Help us Lord to love like You do. Help us to grow in our love toward others. Give us tender, forgiving, and kind hearts. Holy Spirit, help us to take any negative thoughts captive and to replace them with loving affection and open hearts toward each other. Father, our steadfast trust and hope is in You. Grant us hearts that overflow with extravagant love!
Amen.
