The Seed Before the Fruit: Trusting God with what He is forming before we can see what it will become
Read:
Philippians 2:13 (ESV): “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.”
James 4:15 (NIV): “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
Genesis 50:20 (NKJV): “You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good… to save many people alive.”
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Pray:
Father God, You know every beginning and every ending. You see what we cannot yet see. Thank You that Your wisdom is greater than ours, and Your purposes are never dependent on our ability to understand everything. Search our hearts.
Where desire has become demand, teach us surrender. Where impatience has made us rush, teach us to wait well. Where we have confused our plans with Your purposes, give us humility to listen again.
Lord Jesus, be more precious to us than any calling, any opportunity, or any outcome. Holy Spirit, discern what is from You, shape what needs shaping, and form in us the character needed for every next step. May our deepest desire always be this: Not our will—but Yours. And may every open door, every hidden season, and every part of the journey bring glory to Jesus.
In His precious Name,
Amen.
Remember: Fruit is visible. Roots are hidden. But God cares deeply about both. We often ask Him for the fruit, while He may be strengthening the roots. Deepening conviction. Purifying motives. Growing patience. Teaching dependence. Preparing us for responsibilities we cannot yet see. So perhaps we do not need to rush the hidden season. What God forms in us may matter just as much as where He eventually leads us. Let us stay close to Jesus. Let us remain teachable. Let us obey what He has made clear. And let us trust Him with what has not yet taken shape. Because the goal is not merely to arrive somewhere significant. It is to become people who can carry God’s purposes without losing sight of God Himself.
