God is in our breakthrough…
Read:
Psalm 42:5 (TPT): “Then I will say to my soul: ‘Don’t be discouraged; don’t be disturbed, for I fully expect my Savior-God to break through for me. Then I’ll have plenty of reasons to praise Him all over again’. Yes, living before His face is my saving grace!”
Act:
Our fragile hearts so quickly lose hope when things don’t go according to plan or as expected. In most instances this is what happens when we have tried to handle situations and execute our plans and dreams (even though based on God’s will) in our own capacity, and strength. Today, let us be reminded by the great life-lesson from David, that when we feel pressed, a little cast down or distressed, to “never give up; not be impatient; but to be entwined as one with the Lord. To be brave and courageous, and to never lose hope. Yes, to keep on waiting—for He [our Lord] will never disappoint us!” (Paraphrased Psalm 27:14 (TPT)).
Let us be determined this week to:
Seek and thirst to be in God’s presence – to be entwined as one with Him. Let’s speak to our Father God about the condition of our souls. Let’s stop seeking God in the energy of our own flesh, based on our own affections and plans – let’s yield our spirit to be one with Him (Jesus truly alive in us). Let’s be so desperate to seek God’s face and His will for our lives that we can together with David declare: “Here’s the one thing we crave from God, the one thing we seek above all else: We want the privilege of living with Him every moment in His house, finding the sweet loveliness of His face, filled with awe, delighting in His glory and grace. We want to live our lives so close to Him that He takes pleasure in our every prayer” (Paraphrased Psalm 27:4 (TPT)).
Once we fill our lives and minds – our very souls, with God’s Word and being in His presence, our lives will overflow with joy and peace. Then we’ll be well on our way, staying on the course set before us – (bravely and courageously) trusting and knowing that our Lord has the rest of this year covered; and that He will work everything together for our good – because we LOVE Him above all! (Romans 8:28)
Speak to our souls. John Piper says: “Nothing is more important in our minds than preaching the gospel to ourselves”. This is needed, so that we as the psalmist did, can speak hope and life into our souls. What are you saying to yourself and about yourself?
Let’s declare God’s promises over our lives. Let’s fill our minds and souls with the Truth. The Truth that our God is the Creator of all things, the One in control of every detail of our lives, the One that sets the path before us, the One who is our hope and our strength. Let’s believe Isaiah 40:28-31 (MSG) to be true for us every day: “Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening? God doesn’t come and go. God lasts. He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine. He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath. And he knows everything, inside and out. He energises those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts… Those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind”.
Pray:
Heavenly Father, You are our revelation-light, the Truth we build our lives upon. You are our salvation and the stronghold of our lives. We seek to be in Your presence, God: To sit in awe of Your glory and splendour, to be safe within Your shelter, and to be taught by You regarding how to live our lives and approach the rest of this year. Fill us with hope and energy to be strong and courageous. Grace us to put a smile on our faces and give us courage and favour for the tasks at hand. We praise You for the breakthroughs in our lives! You are our saving-grace! Thank You Father, that You will never disappoint us.
Amen.
