Loving relationships…
Read:
Matthew 22:37-39 (AMP): “And Jesus replied to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind’. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others]’.”
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Consider the health of our relationships. The words we speak, and our acts of kindness can bring forth life, light and healing. Proverbs 18:20-21 says that “sharing words of wisdom is satisfying to your inner being. It encourages you to know that you’ve changed someone else’s life. Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life… (TPT). May our desire in this season be to have hearts that are filled with God’s light – so that every word we speak will bring hope, encouragement, life and love to those around us. Let us have patience and endurance to be kind towards others; and to reach out or re-connect with our loved ones, friends, and neighbours. Let’s ask God to give us wisdom and guidance to use this time well, to re-examine the condition of our relationships, and to bring healing and restoration where needed. May we glorify our Lord in and through every word we think, speak, write or type.
Remember the love we had at first. Let us pray for a hunger to be completely awed by God for everything that He is! He is found in the smallest details of our lives. Let us look for His goodness and miracle-working power, even when confronted with uncertainty, fear or hurt. May we be grateful for our lives, for the people around us, for the things we have, and for the hope we have in God. May we realise that we can truly trust God with everything. May we value our relationship with our Lord as our highest priority, and may we live from the abundance of His great love!
Pray:
Lord, I ask You to awaken our sleeping spirits. Father God, would You refresh our minds, so that we can see You in new and different ways. Remind us of how passionately we are adored. Father God, I praise You that You are good! Lord, I ask that You help us to not go back to our old ways of being busy: filling our days and schedules, our hearts and minds with many things – but forgetting about You. Lord, fill us with a hunger to love You, to adore You, to cherish our relationship with You, and to just love You for who You are. (Nicole)
Lord, I am asking You that You would fill us with the knowledge of Your will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that we may walk worthy of You Lord. We long to be fully pleasing to You, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of You God. Would You strengthen us with power according to Your glorious might, so that we may have endurance and patience; and so that we may give thanks to the Father with joy. Lord, will You give us open eyes and open ears so that we may understand the people around us, and attend to their needs. (Retha)
Lord, thank You that we can pray together today and bring our relationships to Your feet. We need Your wisdom to respond in every situation with love, acceptance and patience. Lord, give us forgiveness – that we will be able to forgive each other. Bring healing in every marriage Lord, in every family relationship that experiences a storm. Will You open our spiritual eyes so that we can see the pain and the needs of our loved ones? (Emilise)
Father, thank You for Your great love for us. We come and confess that often we do not love You with all of our heart, with all of our souls and all of our strength. Father, many times we fall far short in loving our neighbours, especially those who do not know You yet. Therefore, we pray for Your spirit to fill us anew. Father, refresh us, strengthen us and realign us with Your activity in the world. (Coen)
When we think of the future, it feels like nothing is clear anymore – and it’s a bit foggy. But all of these burdens we bring to You. You are God over all. You see into the future; You know every need; You hear every prayer; and You see every broken heart. We want to trust in You Lord. It is in times like this that we need to remind ourselves that we do not have all the answers but that is okay. You always provide what is needed. (Marike)
Thank You Father God for Your love, thank You that no earthly measure can contain Your love, Your grace and Your forgiveness towards us. Father God, remind us, take us back to when we first got to discover who You are in our lives. Take us back there Lord. Let us just sit and be still and be awed by everything that You are. We praise You Lord, we give You all the honour, and all the glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen. (Nicole)
Amen.
(This WRAP is with great appreciation towards Retha, Coen, Emilise, Marike and Nicole)
