United in worship, Bible reading and prayer…
Read:
Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV): “I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth”.
Act:
May I urge us this week to focus on three things:
Let us worship like never before.
Let us take time to memorise and recite scripture (getting back into God’s Word) – let’s deposit His Word in our hearts.
Let us get on our knees and pray without ceasing.
Pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. (Matthew 9:6-9 – Jackie Arndt)
Lord Jesus, Light of the world, we praise and thank You that the darkness of disease, fear and global crisis can never overcome Your Light. Thank You that You have called us out of darkness into the glorious riches of Your kingdom, and that we can proclaim Your light and Your life and Your hope in the midst of this day, this generation, this pandemic. (Carrie Gaul)
Lord, You came, and you said that You love the world so much that You gave Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Lord we bring before You Japan and South Korea; and Wuhan China where it all started. We lift up Europe as the epicentre and we also pray for Israel and other parts of the Middle East – nations such as Iran where many are suffering and do not know You and haven’t heard about You. Lord, we bring Spain to You as well as the USA. (Suria Scholtz)
Jesus says to us “love your neighbor as you love yourself”. Loving your neighbor means valuing them and putting their needs above your own. Father, in this time I pray for us as a church – that we will really put the needs of our communities above our own, and not be selfish in any way. Lord, will You give us Your heart for our communities. (Jackie Arndt)
Lord, I thank You for the gift of family and unity. I pray that as we face these times of global panic and fear, You would use us mightily to display to our families the trust that we place in You. Lord, will You help us to show those around us Your gift of peace – which surpasses all understanding – as we remain calm and speak words of life and hope. (Nicole Agnew)
Thank You that you have caused us to be born again to a living hope, a hope that is anchored in the steadfast unwavering work of our Lord Jesus Christ. May that hope anchor each one of our souls in this day. (Carrie Gaul)
Father in heaven, thank You so much that we know we don’t have to face this situation alone. Lord, many of us may at this point feel stressed or concerned, worried about income and money stuff. Some of us may be feeling heartache about opportunities we’re missing out on, or friends and family we’re longing to be with. Even though we may feel those things, Lord we know in a very real way that You are with us in this. May each one of us realise that this is an opportunity to serve You well. An opportunity to reach out to others around us who need You. Who need to be shown Your light, and Your love, in practical ways. Father, as people who fear You and want to serve You well, we ask You to please give us clarity about what to do next. (Heinz Oldewage)
We are praying that Your people will share the riches of Your kingdom with those around them. Lord, You have given us so much. The truth of scripture is embedded in our hearts and in our minds and in our spirit. Now the time has come to release those riches to the nations, so that people will hear You and they will be touched by You. We pray that revival will break out and that it will cause all 195 nations to confess Jesus Christ as Lord. (Elza Meyer)
Spirit of the living God, do more. Do more than we could ever ask or imagine, despite the darkness of this hour. Oh God, breathe light and life and the hope that is found only in You. In Jesus’ name and for His glory and the good of His people we pray. Amen. (Carrie Gaul)
(This WRAP is with great appreciation towards Carrie, Jackie, Suria, Heinz, Retha, Nicole and Elza)
