Behold Jesus First: What Captures Your Gaze Will Shape Your Life

Let us be determined this week to:

Behold Jesus before everything else. Before the opinions. Before the headlines. Before the fear. Before the diagnosis. Before the challenge. Seek God’s face first. Because what we behold shapes what we believe, and what we believe ultimately shapes how we live. The clearest vision in life is not seeing circumstances differently; it is seeing Jesus more clearly.

Live from identity, not performance. The world teaches us that value is earned. Jesus teaches us that identity is received. Too often we try to become what God has already declared us to be in Christ. We do not work for acceptance. We work from acceptance. We do not strive for belonging. We live because we belong. Identity precedes action. Transformation flows from knowing Whose we are.

Pursue first-hand encounters with Jesus. Borrowed faith will only carry us so far. The blind men did not rely on someone else’s testimony. They pursued Jesus for themselves. And He met them personally. The Lord desires more than our knowledge about Him. He desires a relationship with Him.

Allow Christ to redefine what is possible. The two blind men believed before they received. Faith opened their hearts before healing opened their eyes. Sometimes the greatest miracle is not what God does for us. It is what He reveals to us about Himself. Faith is seeing Jesus rightly before circumstances change visibly.

Become what we behold. Scripture tells us that as we behold the Lord, we are transformed into His image. This is not self-improvement. This is Spirit-formed transformation. The more we behold Jesus, the more His character shapes ours. The more we behold His love, the more we love. The more we behold His grace, the more we extend grace. The more we behold His holiness, the more we desire holiness. We do not become like Christ by trying harder. We become like Christ by beholding Him daily.

Pray:

Lord Jesus, open the eyes of our hearts. Help us to behold You above every distraction, every fear, every disappointment, and every false identity. Forgive us for the times we have fixed our gaze on lesser things and allowed them to shape our thoughts, emotions, and decisions more than Your truth. Teach us to seek Your face before we seek answers. Teach us to pursue Your presence before we pursue solutions. Reveal Yourself to us more deeply through Your Word, through prayer, and through the quiet work of Your Spirit. Help us to live from the security of our identity in You and not from striving, comparison, or performance. Where our vision has become clouded, bring clarity. Where our faith has weakened, strengthen it. Where our hearts have wandered, draw us close again.

May we behold You so fully that Your life becomes visible in ours.

Transform us into people who reflect Your grace, Your truth, Your love, and Your glory.

We fix our eyes on You, Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the One who changes everything.

Amen.

 Remember: The greatest transformation in life does not happen when circumstances change. It happens when Christ becomes the clearest thing we see. So seek His face. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Behold Him above every other voice. Because what captures your attention and thoughts will ultimately shape your life. And when Jesus becomes your focus, freedom begins, identity becomes clear, and transformation follows.
