The Hidden Work of Holy Becoming

Read:

John 15:4–5 (NIV): “Remain in Me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine… If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.”

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV): “And we all… are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

Colossians 2:6–7 (NIV): “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Remain before we understand. Faith is not proven only when we have answers. Faith is often formed when we do not. Abiding says: “Lord, I do not see the full picture, but I trust Your heart. I do not know what is next, but I know You are with me now.” Understanding may come later, but intimacy is available today.

Trust the Father’s hidden work. In the hands of our Father, pruning is never careless, cruel, or without purpose. What feels like reduction may actually be refinement. What feels like delay may actually be deepening. What feels like loss may become the very place where God makes room for lasting fruit.

Stop measuring too soon. Roots grow in the dark. Seeds break before they rise. Fruit develops slowly. Character is shaped quietly. So let us not judge the season while God is still writing it. Let us not call something barren while the Lord is still cultivating beneath the surface.

Live from union with Jesus. Jesus did not say, “Try harder and you will bear fruit.” He said, “Remain in Me.” Our first calling is not performance, but presence. Not striving, but surrender. Not self-powered effort, but Spirit-led dependence. From that place, obedience becomes worship, patience becomes strength, surrender becomes freedom, and our lives begin to carry the fragrance of Jesus.

Become for His glory. The goal of abiding is not merely personal peace. The goal is Christlikeness. God is shaping us to reflect Jesus more clearly in how we love, forgive, serve, endure, speak, wait, and trust. So, this week, may our prayer be: “Lord, do not only change my circumstances. Change me. Make me more like Jesus. Let my life point others back to You.”

Pray:

Lord Jesus, You are the true Vine, the Source of our life, our strength, our hope, and our fruitfulness.

Today, we bring You the seasons we do not fully understand, the prayers that still feel unanswered, the doors that have not yet opened, the places where we feel stretched, and the areas where pruning has felt painful.

Teach us to remain in You. When we are tempted to strive, draw us back into surrender.
When we are tempted to control, draw us back into trust. When we are tempted to withdraw, draw us back into Your love. When we are tempted to measure too soon, remind us that You are still forming what is eternal.

Father, thank You that Your hands are loving, wise, faithful, and good. Thank You that You do not waste our waiting, our tears, our transitions, our hidden places, or our pruning seasons.

Holy Spirit, form Christ in us. Deepen our roots in Your Word. Strengthen our faith in Your character. Soften our hearts in Your presence. Teach us to live from union with Jesus. May our lives bear fruit that remains. May our homes carry peace. May our words carry grace. May our choices reflect surrender. May our faith become steady, rooted, and radiant.

Lord, we do not want to simply get through this season. We want to become more like Jesus through this season. So we choose again today to abide. We choose to trust. We choose to remain. We choose to let You write the journey.

All glory belongs to You. All fruit comes from You. All transformation is by You. And all our lives are for You. In the mighty and beautiful Name of Jesus.

 Remember: The season you are in is not just something to survive. In the hands of God, it can become a place of sacred formation. So do not despise the hidden work. Do not rush what God is refining. Do not measure too soon what He is still maturing. Stay close to Jesus. Let His Word steady you. Let His love hold you. Let His Spirit shape you. Because the Lord is not only leading you forward, He is forming Christ within you. And one day, you will look back and see: The waiting had wisdom, the pruning had purpose, the surrender had beauty, and the hidden place was holy ground.
