Behold the King: From the Cross to the Crown—the story that changes everything
Read:
Isaiah 53:5 (NIV): “He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”
Luke 23:46 (NIV): “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” When He had said this, He breathed His last.
Matthew 28:5–6 (NIV): “Do not be afraid… He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”
Revelation 1:18 (NIV): “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
See the Cross for what it truly is. The Cross was not symbolic. Jesus did not die near us. He died for us. Every sin. Every failure. Every hidden place. Laid upon Him. The weight of our sin became the place of His sacrifice.
Refuse to make the Gospel familiar. We can become used to the story. Used to the Cross. Used to the empty tomb. But this is not ordinary. This is God Himself entering our brokenness to bring us back to life. The Gospel is not something we move past. It is the ground we stand on.
Respond personally, not just emotionally. The Cross demands more than admiration. It invites surrender. Not just “That is beautiful” but “Lord, here is my life.” Jesus gave everything and calls us to come to know Him fully.
Live from resurrection reality. The tomb is empty. Jesus is alive. And that means: Shame is broken. Sin is defeated. Death has lost its power. We do not live toward victory. We live from it.
Come near and not remain at a distance. There is always a temptation to observe Jesus from afar. But the Cross was not meant to be watched. It was meant to be received. The Lamb was given… so that we could come home.
Pray:
Lord Jesus, we stand in awe of You. Of Your sacrifice. Of Your love. Of the weight You carried for us. You were pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities, and yet You chose the Cross. Not because You had to—but because You loved us. And today, we do not stand distant. We come close. We bring You our sin, our brokenness, our striving—and we lay it down at the Cross.
Risen King, thank You that the story did not end in the grave. Thank You that You rose in power, defeating sin, overcoming death, and securing eternal life. Open hearts to see You.
Draw the lost to Yourself. Restore the weary. Revive what has grown cold. And for those who know You—draw us deeper still. Let us not live at a distance, but in daily surrender, daily awe, daily intimacy with You.
Jesus, You are the Lamb who was slain—and the King who reigns forever. And we give You all glory, all honour, all praise.
Amen.
Remember: The Cross was enough. The tomb is empty. And Jesus is alive. So come. Come to the Cross. Come to the Saviour. Come to Life. Because the One who died for you now lives and calls you by name.
