Expectation that Honours God: Living with faith-filled anticipation

Read:

Psalm 62:5 (NIV): “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him.”

Romans 15:13 (NIV): “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.”

Hebrews 11:1 (NIV): “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Place our expectation in God, not outcomes. When expectation is tied to circumstances, it rises and falls. But when expectation is anchored in God, it stands firm. Faith grows strongest when hope rests on who God is, not in what we want.

Let expectation produce peace, not pressure. True expectation does not rush God; it trusts in Him. Expectation that honours God rests before it rejoices.

Wait actively, not anxiously. Biblical waiting is not passive. It is prayerful, obedient, and attentive. Waiting with expectation keeps our hearts soft and our eyes fixed on Jesus.

Allow hope to reshape our perspective. Expectation reminds us that God is already working ahead of us. What feels unseen to us is never unknown to God.

Believe that God is faithful. Expectation is not about predicting the future. It’s about trusting the One who holds it in His hands. When we expect God to be God and Lord over all, our faith finds its footing.

Pray:

Faithful God, we come before You with open hearts and expectant faith. We place our hope not in outcomes, not in certainty, not in control, but in You.

Fill us with joy and peace as we trust You. Quiet anxious thoughts.
Strengthen weary hearts. Teach us to wait with confidence and grace.

As we step into this week, may our expectations reflect Your goodness and our lives declare Your faithfulness.

We fix our eyes on You, Lord, our hope, our anchor, our future.
Amen.
