When God Chose Nearness

Read:

Isaiah 9:6 (NIV): “For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

John 1:14 (NIV): “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.”

2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV): “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Let Jesus’ Names become our refuge. Wonderful Counsellor—when our thoughts feel crowded. Mighty God—when our strength feels thin. Everlasting Father—when we long to be held and known. Prince of Peace—when our hearts ache for rest. Remember: What He is called is what He faithfully becomes for us.

Receive true peace, as it’s not just a feeling. Peace is not something Jesus gives from a distance—He is Peace, present with us, ruling within us.

Choose fullness over survival. Jesus did not come to help us cope with life—He came to restore life to its God-intended wholeness.

Walk in freedom that flows from God’s presence. True freedom is not found in control or certainty, but in surrender to the Spirit who lives within us.

Let this season be shaped by who Jesus is—not what it demands. Before we manage expectations or meet deadlines, let us pause… and behold Jesus Himself, our Greatest Gift ever received.

Pray:

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, Glory of Heaven made near. We honour You. We exalt You. We adore You.

You are our Wonderful Counsellor—wisdom beyond understanding.
You are our Mighty God—strength unmatched, power held in love.
You are our Everlasting Father—faithful across generations.
You are our Prince of Peace—ruling not by domination, but by redemption.

We praise You for choosing the manger before the throne, the cross before the crown, the way of surrender before the way of splendour. Reign in our hearts. Rule in our lives. Be magnified in our worship.

May our lives echo Heaven’s declaration: Glory to God in the highest.

Jesus, You are worthy—yesterday, today, and forever.
Amen.

👑 Let us not forget: Heaven’s greatest gift was not peace, but the Prince who brings it. Not life, but the Life Himself. Not hope, but the Holy One who fulfils it.
