The Holy Art of Making Room for God

Read:

Psalm 139:23–24 (NKJV): “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”

Hebrews 12:15 (NKJV): “Lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.”

Proverbs 4:23 (NIV): “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Matthew 6:33 (NLT): “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Declutter the heart. Tend the soil. Make room for God’s glory.

1️⃣ Clutter confines movement; order creates flow. When our physical space is in disarray, we lose time searching for what we need. When our spiritual space is cluttered, we lose clarity, direction, and peace. The Holy Spirit moves where there is room. So may allow Him to reorder the rooms of our hearts.

2️⃣ Healing is a holy act. We often polish the outside but neglect the inside. Yet Jesus doesn’t visit to admire our surfaces—He longs to dwell in our depths. Healing begins when we invite Him into the chaos, saying, “Lord, here is my mess—please make it holy.”

3️⃣ Bitterness is the weed that chokes the soul. It starts unseen—just a seed of offence—but soon, it takes over the garden. Hebrews 12 warns us: Its roots spread fast and corrupt many. So let us approach bitterness with forgiveness and water our hearts with grace.

4️⃣ Let go, to grow. God cannot fill what is already full. The hands that cling cannot receive. Let’s release the clutter—fear, control, resentment—and discover that God’s been patiently waiting to pour abundance into our empty spaces.

5️⃣ The heart is the sacred garden of God. What we nurture within will bloom without. So let us guard our hearts with diligence and feed them with truth. For from the inner life springs forth every word, decision, and miracle yet to unfold.

Remember: “God cannot dwell in a cluttered heart—He waits for the space we surrender. So let us clear the clutter, create the space, and cultivate His presence.”

Pray:

Father of light, enter the hidden rooms of our hearts today. Sweep away the clutter—the fears we’ve hidden, the wounds we’ve ignored, the bitterness we’ve watered. Shine Your holy light into every corner, and cleanse us from what hinders Your presence.

Lord, where there has been striving, plant rest. Where there has been resentment, sow forgiveness. Where there has been noise, create stillness. And where there has been emptiness, pour Your Spirit in abundance.

Search us, O God, and know our hearts. Lead us in the everlasting way—pure, free, and filled with You. Make our inner lives a sanctuary where Your peace dwells and Your purposes bloom. We clear the clutter, Lord, to make room for Your glory.

In Jesus’ mighty and cleansing Name we pray, Amen.

🌿 Let us not forget:  A tended heart is a fertile heart—ready for the Spirit to move in freedom and fullness.
