Resting in His Presence: Embracing the Beauty of a Simple, Relational Walk with God

Read:

Philippians 3:4, 7–9 (NKJV): “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ… that I may gain Christ and be found in Him.”

Acts 2:42 (NKJV): “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Rest in Christ, Not Striving. Faith is not about achieving, but abiding. Paul counted all his accomplishments as “rubbish” compared to knowing Christ (Philippians 3). Transformation comes not from effort, but from surrender to God’s love and grace.

Devote Ourselves to God’s Word. For the early church, Scripture was their life’s foundation. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to let distractions pull us away from God’s Word. Today, we are reminded to ask: Does God’s Word still excite us? Do we treasure it as our guide, comfort, and wisdom? May the Bible be our daily breath, breathing life into our hearts, minds, and actions.

Pursue Genuine Fellowship. True fellowship is Christ-centred—it’s about sharing life, growing, encouraging, and sharpening one another’s lives. Let’s ask ourselves today: Is there someone God is calling me to invest in or reconcile with? Let us build deep, encouraging relationships that reflect God’s love. May we invest, reconcile, and walk in unity.

Embrace the Power of Communion.  The Lord’s Supper is no ritual—it’s a living reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice. Let us never take communion lightly, but always approach it with reverence, remembering the depth of God’s love and the power of His sacrifice for us.

Never Cease Praying. Prayer is the heartbeat of our faith. It’s not just a task we check off—it’s an ongoing conversation with God, a continual communion with our Creator. When we make prayer a priority, we invite God’s presence into every moment of our lives, whether in joy or struggle, because prayer connects us to the very heart of God and aligns us with His purposes.

Let us remember this week, in Christ, we find rest—not burdens.
When we stop striving and simply abide, we experience the true transformation that comes from living out these life-giving practices: Being founded in Scripture, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer.

Pray:

Father, we come before You, seeking all that You are and saying You are enough. We surrender our striving, our self-reliance, our performance, our efforts, and we ask that You will teach us, by Your Holy Spirit to simply rest in You. May knowing You be more than enough. May it be all sufficient and satisfy us in every possible way. Help us to be steadfast, committed, devoted, and rooted in Your Word. May we not settle for a life that is lived alone, for self or isolated, but may we enjoy the life and abundance that comes from being in true fellowship in Christian community. May we seek out opportunities to share our lives with others. May we be found faithful, fervent, unceasing in our prayer, as we enjoy constant conversation with You and may our lives truly reflect Jesus in every way. Amen.

Let today be a reminder that we are most fully ourselves when we simply rest in God’s presence.
His grace is sufficient.
His love is unwavering.
And in Him, we are made whole.
