Disengage to Re-Engage

Read:

2 Chronicles 16:9 (NIV): “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.”

Ephesians 5:15–17 (NIV): “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Step away from the noise. Let us embrace silence and solitude, where our hearts can become still enough to hear God’s gentle whisper. God often speaks not in the chaos, but in the calm.

Withdraw with purpose. Disengagement is not to escape, but to rest, reflect, and realign with God’s will. In these sacred pauses, we gain clarity to walk in step with Him again.

Establish intentional rhythms of rest. May we guard our hearts from burnout and maintain a God-honoring balance between action and stillness. We are not human doings; we are human beings. Rest is part of faithful living.

Prioritise unhurried time with God. May we always allow our Father’s presence to renew our strength and clarify our vision. As we slow down, let’s make room for His peace to anchor us and His truth to guide us.

Re-enter life from a place of peace. May we be grounded in God’s love and wisdom. From a place of renewal, we serve not from exhaustion but from grace, focus, and wholehearted devotion.

We have a special invitation:

This week, let us choose one moment to intentionally disengage—even just for a few minutes.
Turn off your phone. Close your laptop.
Sit in silence.
Ask God: “What do You want me to hear, feel, or release right now?”

Then, return with your heart renewed.

Pray:

Precious Father, You are so good, You are so good. You know us intimately, Lord. May we allow ourselves to surrender to You, Lord, in every situation, knowing that You are in complete control of our lives. You will protect us and provide for us in every situation. Help us to do that, Lord, for You said Jesus, “Watch and pray for the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” So, help us to just allow You to have Your perfect way in our lives. In Jesus’ matchless Name, I praise You.

Hebrews 10:36 (NLT)

Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that He has promised.

Hebrews 12:1–2 (ESV)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

May that come into each of our hearts, Lord. All of Heaven is saying, “I am with you. I am for you. I will see you through to the other side.”

Oh Lord Jesus, You are such a mighty God. You not only give us each day of life, You give us the privilege of planning, with Your help, how they might be lived out. We ask that You will empower all of us to be faithful to meet with You daily. May we always remember what You say in Psalm 46:10—”Be still, and know!” You don’t say, ‘be busy and know,’ ‘multi-task and know,’ or even ‘catch a podcast and know!’ Oh Lord, You long for us to sit at Your feet, and gaze into Your eyes in quietness, to hear Your voice, as we plan our days. May we always remember that You are the great I AM! Lord, may we be intentional about spending time with You and hiding Your Word in our hearts to serve You even more fully when You call it forth. May we be aware of the continual reality of Your presence in our lives. In Jesus’ precious Name. Amen.
