Hope Against All Hope
Read:
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV): “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Habakkuk 3:17–18 (NLT): “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord!”
Romans 15:13 (MSG): “Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!”
Act:
Let us be determined this week to remember that:
Hope is not mere optimism. It’s not wishful thinking or a fairytale dream. Hope is the conviction that we carry a responsibility to make a piece of Heaven visible here on earth.
Hope is active and alive. We all hope for a better world, and by faith, we live to help bring it about. As we believe in Jesus’ presence here and now, we become His hands and feet to those around us.
Hope perseveres. It doesn’t give up when things get hard. It lives with expectation—open to possibilities, potential, and signs of life, even in the face of death.
Hope learns to wait. It requires patience and endurance. It trusts in the unseen work of God, even when we can’t perceive it yet. Seasons of waiting are sacred—they remind us that true growth takes time.
Our hope is anchored in Jesus Christ. He chose to dwell among us. And nothing—absolutely nothing—in all creation can separate us from His love and presence.
Pray:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 (NIV)
And may you stand in the promise that:
Those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
Lord, when life feels uncertain, and the world seems broken, remind us that true hope is not found in ideal circumstances but in Your unfailing love and faithfulness. May we always turn to You, the source of true and lasting hope. You call us to hope against all hope—to trust in Your promises even when circumstances seem impossible, believing that the God who knows all is able to do what is impossible for us. So, Lord, help us embrace the paradox of hope—the tension between sorrow and joy, waiting and fulfilment, surrender and victory. Teach us to trust in Your wisdom, even when we do not understand. When we feel weak, remind us that Your strength is made perfect in our weakness. When we struggle with waiting, give us the patience to trust in Your perfect timing. And thank You so much that nothing can ever separate us from Your love. Amen.
