Rooted in God: Embracing Our True Identity

Read:

Ephesians 1:4 (NIV): “For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.”

Romans 8:38–39 (NIV): “I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Philippians 4:13 (NIV): “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Root our identity in God. Embrace being chosen and loved by Him. Let us allow His unchanging love, teachings, and promises to define how we see ourselves, make decisions, and interact with others.

Allow the Great I AM to shape us. May God’s Word and character define who we are, and may His truth transform us to become more like Jesus every day.

Lean on Jesus as our ultimate source of life, hope and satisfaction. He is the only One who can fulfil our deepest needs. So, let us remember that as we live in Him, our lives can serve as an invitation for others to experience His abundant life.

Let us treasure the personal gift of Jesus Christ, allowing His life and love to shine through us. Jesus is God’s gift to each of us, inviting us into a personal relationship with Him. As we embrace this gift, we become carriers of His light and love to others, sharing His hope and grace through our words and actions.

Let us fix our minds on God’s steadfast and unchanging nature, finding perfect peace as we trust in Him. God’s faithfulness is a constant in an uncertain world. When we focus on His unchanging character, we find peace and stability even in challenging times. May our trust in Him strengthen us and inspire others to seek the same unshakable hope.

Pray:

Lord, when it comes to the core of who we are, when it comes to those really meaningful questions about, You know, “Who am I and what am I doing here and why am I the way that I am?” Lord, we know that ultimately, all of that is rooted in Your estimation of us, in the work that You did. And so, thank You, Lord, that You’ve chosen us. Thank You that You, that You love us constantly. Thank You that we don’t have to do things in our own strength but that we’re empowered. Help us to remember that our identity is not based on anything we’ve done or anything that anyone else thinks of us, but that our identity is rooted in who You are.

Father God, I thank You so, so, so much that You do not keep Your identity hidden somewhere, that we don’t have to guess who You are and how You are. Thank You that we can know that You are and that You are with us. Please make this a truth revelation in our lives that we will always know that You are with us right now and tomorrow and tonight and in every single moment You are with us. In the valley of fear, the valley of death, in the valley of difficulties – You are with us. And we praise You for that. Thank You, God.

Jesus, everlasting life is found nowhere else but in You. Thank You that we can know that You are our living water today, now. Jesus, may You encourage us, may You strengthen us. Holy Spirit, may You be the One that leads us into taking this gift of Christ to our world, to our families, to our work, to that neighbour.

Lord, You gifted us with the eternal source of life and living water so that we will never be thirsty again. Help us to keep on reminding ourselves of that hope. Lord, You are so good to us, and we come here and just praise Your Name, and acknowledge everything that You have done for us.

Father, You are God. Help us all as we look to You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
