JESUS – Our Saviour, Bridegroom and Lord
Read:
Romans 3:23–24 (NKJV): “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP): “Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].”
Galatians 2:20 (AMP): “I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
Act:
Let us be determined this week to reflect on the profound truth of Jesus, our Saviour, Bridegroom and Lord, and how these aspects of His identity shape our faith and daily walk with Him:
Jesus, our Saviour. Through His sacrificial love on the cross, our sins are forgiven, and we are redeemed, justified and declared righteous. Redemption is the price Jesus paid to free us from the bondage of sin. Justification goes beyond forgiveness, as Christ declares us innocent of all wrongdoing. Through His righteousness, He has restored the broken relationship between us and the Father. Therefore, let us trust in His saving grace, knowing that in Him we find true freedom, renewed hope and everlasting life.
Jesus, our Bridegroom. Jesus invites us into an intimate, loving relationship with Him and desires a deep connection with His Church, His Bride, by offering us His unending love, faithfulness and devotion. In this union, we receive a new identity in Him, no longer defined by the world but as His beloved and redeemed people. Therefore, let us respond with hearts of devotion and faithfulness, living out our calling as His pure and radiant bride, united with Him for eternity, as we eagerly await His return.
Jesus, our Lord. Jesus reigns over every aspect of our lives, guiding, shaping and calling us to follow Him wholeheartedly. We have been saved not just from something, but also for something – specifically, to glorify Him, share His love and grace, and participate in His mission of reconciliation through the transformative work of His Spirit. Therefore, let us submit to His authority, trust in His perfect will, and allow Him to lead us, knowing that His ways are always higher than our ways.
Pray:
Father, today we are so grateful just for Jesus Christ. We stand in awe that You have given Your Son for us. Jesus, that You would freely lay down Your life to save us, and not just save us. You redeemed us, You set us free, You justified us, and You declared us the righteousness of God. And so, I pray that You will help us understand the breadth, the height, and the depth of everything that happened on the cross. May we understand that we are deeply loved and that You held nothing back, but You gave Your very best by giving us Jesus.
Lord, I thank You for the reality of Your Son who died on the cross for us. Thank You that we can truly know Jesus Christ. Thank You that we can rest in Him, and that we know we are His child. Thank You for that wonderful assurance.
Thank you, Lord God, that we can know You in a very real way. Help us to share with others in such a way that Your Name is glorified through our conversations and attitude. Let Your Will be done. Let Your Kingdom come.
Abba Father, I pray, Lord, that You will let their light shine throughout the world and let them be a flickering for somebody in need. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Father, we thank You for this invitation of intimate relationship You have extended to us in Christ. Lord, we come before You, and we submit our plans, our will and our purpose for our lives to Your will and purpose. We pray, Lord, that You will help us not to misuse grace, to dictate almost what we choose and how we choose to live our lives and to set the pace so that we can be in control. But, help us to really see grace as empowering us and enabling us to live the life You are calling us to in Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
