The Lord is My Shepherd
Read:
Psalm 23:1–3 (NASB): “The Lord is my Shepherd, I will not be in need. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name.”
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Embrace an intimate relationship with God. The phrase, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing” reveals the deep personal connection we have with God. As our Shepherd, He is always with us, guiding and providing for our every need. Let us trust in His constant care and enter His presence with thanksgiving. By encountering God daily, we invite His transformative power into our lives, leading to profound spiritual growth.
Rejoice in God’s abundant provision. “He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters” symbolises God’s generous provision. He offers physical nourishment and spiritual peace. Let us be grateful for His abundant care and find rest in His boundless provision.
Seek spiritual refreshment from God. “He refreshes my soul” highlights how God renews us spiritually, offering comfort and strength in our times of weariness. As we seek Him to revive us, may we embrace the peace and rest He provides, living without fear and remaining ever mindful of His goodness and faithfulness. May we cherish the immense privilege of dwelling in His presence forever, allowing His renewing power to restore, sustain and uplift our spirits.
Follow God’s guidance in righteousness. “He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake” emphasises God’s guidance. He has provided us with everything we would ever need – His love, grace and Himself. By earnestly seeking Him and accepting His gifts, let us live righteously and honour His name with trust and obedience. As we follow His path, may we share His compassion, blessings and love with others.
Fulfil our mission to share God’s love by reflecting His grace and inviting others into His care. May we never come before God empty-handed, but instead approach Him with a spirit of diligence, generosity and gratitude, ensuring that our lives bear abundant fruit for His glory.
Pray:
Thank You, Lord Jesus that You are the secret of the ages. You’ve done it all. We need nothing more! You are the Good Shepherd, and You will never ever forsake us or let us down, whatever the challenge.
Holy Father, we pray for the world to recognise and appreciate all the incredible gifts You’ve given us and Your desire to give us eternal life. And we pray for the world to recognise her Messiah and seek after Him daily.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your work on the cross. Lord, Father God, thank You for giving us our own personal mercy seat in our hearts, where the throne of grace is located, so that we can reach out and touch You.
Abba Father, there’s this well-known song, “Can I go to the Lord with empty hands?” And, no, Lord, we can’t. Help us to see the harvest. Help us understand our role in bringing a harvest to You. Thank You for Your goodness, Your kindness, and Your love. And that You lead us towards our Heavenly home, preparing a harvest to bring to You as an offering when we see You there, face to face.
Abba Father, what a privilege to be part of Your plan for the ages. What a privilege to be workers in Your field. Lord, we each have a little task, and if we do that faithfully, You will even multiply that which we do for You. Lord, we don’t want to come to You with empty hands. We want to come to You with a harvest of souls. And even if we don’t know the people that we touch. Lord, help us to sow whatever it is that You give in our hands, because You are the giver of the seed, and we just have to sow. And then we have this wonderful promise that we will reap a bountiful harvest of righteousness. We praise You for that. Amen.
