Waiting on the Lord…

Read:

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV): ‘But those who wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Wait upon our Lord with hope! He will never fail or forsake us. We can always rely on Him to provide answers to our worries and prayers. May we never lose faith in His perfect timing and will for our lives as we patiently grow and draw closer to Him during times of waiting. Let us always remember that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8) and that He is always faithful. Even when we doubt, feel lost, go in the wrong direction or make no progress, we can trust in His presence and plans for us. May we always remember that God is working in and through us, and His plans are for our good and His glory!

Trust in our Lord wholeheartedly! In the book of John, Jesus tells us who He is, or can be to us, if we but allow Him. He makes it so very plain as He says, “I am the bread of life, I am the light of the world, I am the door, I am the good shepherd, I am the resurrection and the life, I am the way, the truth, and the life, I am the true vine.” May all of these qualities remind us that Jesus came to reveal the nature of God, emphasising His pivotal role as the ultimate source of salvation, guidance and sustenance in our lives. As Jesus reminds us in John 14:6 that He alone is the TRUTH (blessing us with understanding and wisdom – for He is the truth and the Word that sanctifies us and fulfils our deepest longings); He alone is our WAY (the One that exemplifies holy living and what it means to be ambassadors of our God, obeying and loving His will over our earthly desires) and He alone is the One who is giving us access to LIFE (eternal life – a sacred relationship with our Heavenly Father – receiving His blessings, love and grace, becoming His children and living to serve, honour and glorify Him through all we do). May we write that deep in our hearts, and pull it forth to our memory during our times of waiting, praying and believing.

So, as we journey through life’s ever-changing seasons, let us patiently wait on our Lord, trusting that our Father is always at work in our lives, regardless of how big or small the circumstances may be. We can rest in Him, rejoice in Him, and trust in His divine plan for our lives. He reigns over our waiting, our going forward, our weeping, and our praising, both now and forevermore!

Pray:

Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I want to thank You for all Your encouragement to us through Your Word. And I particularly want to thank You that You did not leave us without understanding or knowing what You desire, but You sent us Your Word so that we can always go to Your Word as we wait upon You, when we cry out to You. I thank You that Your Word reminds us that You have not left us as orphans. We are Your children. We are the apple of Your eye. So, even when we wait, we know it is not to punish us but to help us become better, to take us through a process. And You know us better than we even know ourselves. So, when You make us wait, Lord, we want to pray that You will help us to wait patiently and to trust You at all times because You care for us. I pray this in Jesus’ mighty name.

Father, You are always there through Your Holy Spirit, willing to lead us, to guide us, and to redirect us when we, in our humanness, want to go in our own way. So, Lord, we ask that You come back, that You redirect us and lead us by Your Holy Spirit. We pray this in Jesus’ name.

So, Father, I thank You that we can trust You. Jesus, You said, “I am.” There’s no argument. There’s no explanation needed. You are sovereign. You are King. You are Lord. And overall, You are God. We trust You in every situation. The great I am will deliver, and He will fight the fight. And He will provide the peace in hearts, the healing, the deliverance, the provision. You are always present and we thank You for that. In Jesus’ name.

Jesus, we love You. We just want to love You more and more and more. Lord, we want to obey everything You say and ask of us because, Lord, we want to be Your dwelling place. Jesus, thank You that You prepared the way so that we can be the dwelling place of God. Help us to trust in Your truth and give all our thoughts, opinions, and everything to You, Jesus, because You are the truth. And thank You that there’s a promise of an abundant life in You through the Holy Spirit, the power of the Spirit that works within and through us. And we pray this in Jesus’ mighty name.

As the seasons around us change, thank You Lord for always staying the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Thank You that when things around us are uncertain, we can put our trust in You. Help us to cling to Your promises every moment, every day. Amen.
