God’s Expectations…

Read:

Psalm 62:5-8 (NKJV): “My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Seek our Lord and His presence, thirsting after His delightful loveliness and majestic beauty all the days of our lives. May we wait silently as we put God first in everything we do. May we seek God for His direction! May we think about what is expected of us, not according to people, not according to this fallen world and culture, but according to God! Let us stop and go back to the Source, the One who designed and created us… the One who has the blueprint for our lives. Let’s sit at the feet of Jesus and ask Him to fill us to overflowing – anointing us with His holy oil – His presence – so that we can live our lives according to His standard, plan and expectations! Deep in our hearts, may we realise that He has chosen, anointed, and set us apart for a specific purpose. That purpose is sometimes bigger than ourselves. Jesus said in Luke 30:37b: “You go, and do likewise.” May we heed this instruction and go and do likewise, relying on the Holy Spirit’s inspiration to pray for and love all who are hurting physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, or financially. May our lives demonstrate peace so that they realise how much God loves and cares about their needs. May we never underestimate the importance of seeking God and sharing our faith by planting Godly seeds. Let us do our part and know that God will cause those seeds to grow through the work of the Holy Spirit. May we never grow weary in doing good, sharing our faith, and being obedient to what God has entrusted into our hands. May we remain faithful in what we have been called to, and steadfast in the Lord’s ways. May we never underestimate our small contributions, knowing that God can multiply it and use it mightily. May we see great growth and revival in our day as we remain faithful and aligned with His expectation for our lives. May we truly trust in our Lord, spending time with Him daily, reading His Word and assuming a posture of prayer. God is our constant source of truth and wisdom. May we praise our Lord as the light and hope of this world, for forgiving our sins and for giving us new life! May John 15:4 (AMP) always be at the forefront of our minds, “Remain in Me, and I [will remain] in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself without remaining in the vine, neither can you [bear fruit, producing evidence of your faith] unless you remain in Me.” In so doing, we will indeed know what Our Lord expects of us! Our expectations will be aligned with God’s will! Let us pause and seek God first in every detail of our lives! May we continue to do the good work God has predestined us for – little by little, step by step – reaching the end goal for His glory!

Pray:

Spirit of the living God, we thank You that as we sit here across the earth in many different time zones, You are so intricately involved in our lives. Thank You that we can base our expectations on You. Thank You God that You will never fail us, never leave us, nor forsake us. Thank You that our hope can be in You. Thank you Jesus that our future is secure in You. Spirit of the living God, I pray over every person sharing this moment together. I pray that You strengthen them in their innermost being, that You open the eyes of their hearts to see all that You have for them, this year and beyond. God where there is brokenness or disappointment, I speak healing over lives. I speak restoration where things have been broken down or lost, Father. I pray for an outpouring of Your love and an outpouring of Your acceptance – of You being Father to every person. In Jesus’ Name.

Father, we thank You that Your will will be done. We thank You that You fill us again with Your anointing power. That You fill our lamps and our jars with Your oil. The Word speaks of the oil of gladness – oil that is not of this earth,  oil that is Holy and concentrated. We ask that Your presence fills us again so that we may give this oil away to others who need it. We thank You for that and we pray that Your love will guide us and Your Spirit will calm our hearts as we seek You in this time. We thank You for that in Jesus’ name.

Lord Jesus, we are so glad to see Your work. Sometimes when we can’t see it we become discouraged. Thank you Lord, that We know that You use our small contributions every day – a smile, a greeting, a verse – You use each of these. Would You help us and show us which drop of water we need to drop into somebody’s soil today. We praise You and ask You again, Lord send Your revival throughout the world. We need You Lord. We love You Lord. Please Lord, come and touch us in a new way. In Jesus’ name.

Father God, we know that You are a good, good Father and that every gift is from You. Please help us to remember that despite the hard things that happen in this world, every day You are working in us and through us. You have never left your throne. Thank You Lord, in Jesus’ name.

Thank You Father that even though I am flawed, You are so perfect. Thank You that You chose me to be a vessel: that I am found, I am Yours, I am loved, I am free and I am redeemed. Help us to know that we are fully accepted just as we are, and help us to fully accept those around us for who they are as well. Help us to come to You first when our emotions and our flesh are overwhelming us, when we feel stuck, and struggle to move forward. Help us to demonstrate Your love, peace, joy, self-control and other fruits of Your Holy Spirit. May we continue to die to our flesh a little more each day and experience a portion of Your Spirit. May we make room for You in all areas of our lives. Help us to renew our minds daily through the washing of Your Word. May we have the mind of Christ and Your heart. Help us to remember that there is no condemnation for those that are found in Christ Jesus and may we not condemn and judge one another. Help us to have realistic expectations and to have unconditional love for ourselves and those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
