God Reigns!
Read:
Daniel 4:17 (NLT): “For this has been decreed by the messengers; it is commanded by the holy ones, so that everyone may know that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world. He gives them to anyone he chooses—even to the lowliest of people.”
Hebrews 4:12-13 (NLT): “For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the One to whom we are accountable.”
Psalm 91:1-2 (NLT): “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him.”
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Remember that God is in control. When we truly allow God to reign and rule over our lives, our hearts and minds will remain calm and steadfast despite our chaotic world, and our trials and suffering. May we remember that our Lord is not pacing up and down the celestial halls wondering what to do next. No, He has the smallest detail of our lives worked out. Let us remain courageous, and be found on our knees as we communicate with God and pray for others. May we wait patiently for God to move in and through us as we crown Jesus Christ the King and Lord of our lives! May our response, even to the most dire of situations be, that of holding onto God’s promises and His truth – worshipping Him. God is good and there is ‘no place where He is not.’ He is comforting us and giving us courage through our tears and fears… helping us to live lives that bring Christ forth – displaying His hope and glory! May we learn to give thanks even in the little things. May our obedience grow and our faith increase. May we be strong and courageous, unafraid and filled with confidence that our Lord is with us, He is for us, and He holds our lives and futures in the palms of His hands! (Joshua 1:9; Isaiah 41:10; Isaiah 49:16) He truly is in control. May we rest in the understanding that our afflictions could provide a pathway to JOY and a means for a more INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP with our Father – putting Him on the throne of our lives!
Base our lives on what God says! God’s Word has authority in our lives. As we embrace Bible truths and promises, may we remember that this is the surest way to bring our God and Saviour the greatest glory! May we memorise and recite God’s Word frequently. May we move beyond studying, to a place where God’s Word penetrates our lives. Jesus can only truly reign and rule in our minds and hearts if we let Him. May we invite Him to rule over every thought, every action, and every encounter. No one can tear us away from the love of God. May we KNOW our God and KNOW His Word. God is sovereign and His Word brings healing. His Word is our strong tower. It brings light and hope into our lives. God’s Word will never ever fail us. May we know God deeply through His Word, so that we may live differently – reflecting His goodness and faithfulness in our generation and for generations to come!
Pray:
Yes Lord, we want to say YES! We want to bow before You Lord. We want to crown You Lord, believing with our whole hearts and acting upon our belief that You are the ruler! Heaven Rules! Lord Jesus, we want to lift Your name up high and we want to live with clean hearts, clear minds, courage, and confidence that you are in control. Lord, we want to keep calm and have hope because You are the ruler! Thank You Lord, we praise You, we bow before You. In Jesus’ name.
Lord, I don’t know where we get our theology that trials and suffering are bad things. They are part of Your journey for us, they’re part of Your plan for us. Your Word reminds us of that in 1 Peter 4, that these trials and sufferings are not strange to You. They’re part of the normal Christian walk, so that Your name may ultimately be glorified and honoured. Thank You Lord that You’re not distant. You’re not disconnected from our suffering – whatever that may look like in our life today. You are present in the midst of the suffering. You are with us. That is amazing if we can wrap our minds around it. We know that Your glory will be revealed. You will come; You will be in the midst of it. We know we can rest in the promise that there is a day coming when there will be no more suffering. I pray today that we will rest in that promise and assurance from Your Word. Until that day, whatever trial or struggle we face, I pray Lord that we would walk in the grace that You give us daily. When we do suffer, and when those trials come, we can do it with You, we can do it for You, and we can have joy in the midst of it until You come. I pray this all in the precious name of Jesus, our Lord and our Saviour for every trial.
Heavenly Father, we bow our heads before You. We magnify and worship Your Holy Name. Oh Heavenly Father, You have given Your beloved Son and He has died on the cross; but He was raised, and He is our hope in life and death. We are not alone in our suffering when we believe in Him, because He is with us and He will not let us go. He is the rock of our Salvation. Great is the King above all gods. Lord, You are the Almighty One and we can trust You. We can trust You to write our stories. Suffering is never for nothing. You are the rock of our Salvation. Heaven Rules in all circumstances, we glorify and worship Your Holy name dear Lord Jesus.
Thank You Father for the precious treasure of Your Word. It probes the depths of our hearts and it brings transformation as we come to know You in Your glory and holiness. It offers us an unshakable foundation on which to build a future and a hope in Jesus Christ. As our hearts are moulded into His likeness, we can reflect Your love, mercy and righteousness to a needy, desperate world. Heavenly Father, please give us a deep hunger for Your Word. Grant us a desire to nourish our soul and our Spirit with Your Word every day… to hide Your Word in our hearts so that we may recall its wisdom, guidance and grace every day. We sing eternal praise and adoration for giving us Your living Word, Heavenly Father. In the name of Jesus.
Heavenly Father, help us to run to You. Teach us what abiding is, what dwelling is. May we have a desire to stop, meditate and absorb Your Words Lord, so that we can be Your holy and faithful servants. Thank You that You invite us into rest and that’s a beautiful place to be. We love You, we honour You, we worship You Lord. Thank You that I can pray this all in the name of Jesus. Amen.
