The King of our Hearts

Read:

Proverbs 21:2 (AMP): “Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs and examines the hearts [of people and their motives].”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Examine WHO or WHAT is truly reigning and ruling over our hearts. What happens in our hearts determines our thoughts and actions, ultimately dictating the direction of our lives. Let us ensure that what is stored up in our hearts is good and pleasing to God and that our minds are steadfast, committed, and focused on Him. May we truly ‘think about what we think about’, so that what flows from our lives will produce plenty of fruit for God’s Kingdom. As it says in Luke 6:45 (NIV): “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” May our hearts be so full of Jesus and His Word, that it naturally flows from our hearts and mouths.

Ask our Heavenly Father to teach us what it means to be a Godly leader. May we come humbly before the Lord, to pray and intercede for our leaders and for ourselves to lead like Jesus did. Jesus says in John 6:47 (NIV): “Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.” May our confession of faith in Jesus Christ fill our hearts with confidence that we will be with Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, for all eternity! And then, most importantly, may we be bold witnesses to share that truth with all whom God places in our path!

Ensure that our lives are a consistent testimony of God’s goodness, direction and provision. May we remain intentionally inclined to God’s quiet, still whisper. May we always obey, persevering in our faith, knowing that God is in control and He is full of grace, love and mercy. He has our future safely in His hands! May we search our hearts and intentions, prioritising our relationship with God above everything else! May our obedience and humble servanthood lead us to ‘die’ to self and live for Him – putting Him on the throne of our hearts.

Pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to see Your faithfulness and provision for us even in difficult circumstances. Help us to recognise that we are not alone and that You rain blessings down on us. Help us depend on You and not ourselves. Help us to be prayerful and obedient. Help us be thankful and praise You for all You have done; and to remember that Your Truth remains for every generation. Thank You for Your biggest provision for us… Your Son Jesus. It’s in His name I pray.

Dear God, if anyone listening today is carrying wounds in their hearts that make them feel lonely, fearful, angry, sad, unworthy, rejected, judged, guilty, shameful or unloved, I pray that they will be filled with courage to relinquish it all to You. Help them oh Lord, to trust You. I pray that they open their hearts to You. In that place of sacred trust and safety, may Your grace rush in and make them whole and healthy to trust You more, and to love You more. In so doing may they discover that Your love is beyond all measure. In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Please help us to humble ourselves before You, turning from our wicked ways, so that peace and healing may return to our Nations. Help us to be Godly leaders in our own circles of influence, however small. And, Jesus, we implore You to return soon to establish Your Reign. Maranatha, oh King of kings!

Dear Lord, thank You for saving us. We know that our salvation has got nothing to do with our goodness or our ability to do good deeds. Jesus, You made it happen. And with Your saving grace, we get eternal life as a gift. Father, Your home is my home. We long for the day when You come on the clouds again, to take us to the place which You have prepared for us. Will You make us living proof of the certainty of faith? Place people on our path, to whom we can testify. Help us to live within Your promise of eternity, so that others will long for that same certainty. We love You.

Our dearest Heavenly Father, thank You for caring so much for us. You have made Yourself known to us and You want to have a relationship with us. Thank You that You reward those who truly and diligently seek You. Thank You that You reward us with Yourself – our greatest gift. You have promised that Your sheep know Your voice, even though there are other voices on this earth that try to drown Yours out. Give us the strength and the patience to push through and to push in – deeper and deeper – until all the other voices are silenced. Give us the courage Lord to run after Your whisper. Even if we get it wrong, You search for our hearts and our intentions, and You value our growth and our relationship with You more than anything else. May Your desire become our desire, and may we abide in Your house as long as we live. Father, we know that one day in Your house is better than a thousand elsewhere. We love You with all our hearts and we pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
