A New Way!

Read:

Exodus 20:1-17 (NLT): Then God gave the people all these instructions: “I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. “You must not have any other god but me. “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands. “You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name. “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy. “Honour your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you. “You must not murder. “You must not commit adultery. “You must not steal. “You must not testify falsely against your neighbour. “You must not covet your neighbour’s house. You must not covet your neighbour’s wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbour.”

Let us remember this week:

Our Father has given us a ‘new way’ of living. As we reflect on His Word and instructions, may we see them afresh, knowing they are God’s heart and will for each of us for a better life, a new life, a life wrapped in love. Through His powerful Word, we understand how to live as ‘people of the way,’ followers of Jesus Christ, sons and daughters of the Most High. May our conduct be pleasing to God. May we find contentment in Him – knowing that the power of Jesus is active in our lives. He is always with us. He is faithful. He is the same yesterday, today and forever; and He loves us unconditionally. Regardless of what we may face – desert times or difficult days – may we absolutely know that God’s Word will quench our thirst and give us direction. As He promises us in Isaiah 43:19 (AMP), “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” God didn’t only teach us a new way of living. He also blessed us with a way to enter into an intimate relationship with Him. Our salvation is secure. May we live the ‘Jesus way.

Stay focused. Let’s not get distracted, instead let’s focus on what brings us closer to God and what enables us to hear His voice, obey His commandments, and love and glorify Him in all we do! With so much going on around us, the enemy wants us to turn our focus away from God’s goodness and faithfulness. The evil one distracts us from what really matters – following Jesus. So let us stay on our path, remembering that God expects us to be a light to His people, using every opportunity He gives us to touch lives around us!

Stand firm. With our Lord on our side, we can be bold and unmovable in playing our part in God’s Kingdom story! May we stand before our Lord knowing that our ‘new way’ is ‘His way’. May we hold fast to His Word, His promises and His commandments, knowing that the fruit of ‘His way’ is love, joy, peace and an eternity with Him.

Pray:

Dear Lord Jesus. Thank You that we can call You Abba Father! And as we manage our daily lives, remind us what is really important, so that we don’t sweat the small stuff, but rather embrace Your love and this wonderful, beautiful relationship that You’ve offered us! Thank You that we can be together with our sisters and our brothers as a family around the world – united in prayer! We pray this in the name of Jesus.

Oh Lord, I know that we are living in difficult days. I know that we are tired. Sometimes we are afraid, and sometimes we are worried, yet You have sustained us and You renew our energy and strength every day. God, I pray that You would be gracious to us and bless us and make Your face shine on us. I pray that Your ways may be known on earth, for your salvation among all nations. I pray that the peoples would praise You, God; may all peoples praise You.

So Father, I just want to thank You, thank You that we know that you are our Father and we know that You can do great things. Today, my prayer for every one of us is that we will trust You and experience how You change our desert into an oasis – into the garden of the Lord… like Eden. And we thank You for this, in the name of Yeshua our Messiah.

Lord, we thank You for Your Word. From Genesis to Revelation You have promised to be with us, that You never leave us and that You will come back for us! Help us in whatever will come against us today or next week, that we will keep trusting, keep leaning in, and keep keeping Your Word!

Father, we thank You so much that we could gather in these moments, this couple of minutes around Your Word. We thank You for Your Word. We thank You for the power of Your Word, we thank You for the lessons in Your Word. And thank You that You are living within us, through Your Spirit. Help us to stand firm: firm in prayer, firm in our Spiritual life to face the battle of tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow. Help us Lord. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
