Appreciating Every Day of Life!

Read:

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (CJB): “I call on heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have presented you with life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, choose life, so that you will live, you and your descendants, loving Adonai your God, paying attention to what he says and clinging to Him — for that is the purpose of your life! On this depends the length of time you will live in the land Adonai swore He would give to your ancestors Avraham, Yitz’chak and Ya‘akov.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Number our days and appreciate every minute, hour and day we have! With all the heartache of the last two and a half years, all of us have developed a new appreciation for life! If tomorrow could be our last day on this earth, how are we living today? Are we making good use of our time? How are we responding to the difficulties in our lives?
Is our response to each day one of:

– Trusting in our Lord? God is faithful. Let us not get stuck looking around at the problems of this world, or inward at the doubts and bitterness in our hearts. Let us rather look UPWARD with our eyes fixed on Jesus – the One who is “the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). No matter the times we live in, or the decade, the era, or the challenges we face – we can trust in the faithfulness and goodness of God!

– Abiding in our Lord? We all need to take intentional time daily to read God’s Holy Word, spend time in prayer, silence our busyness, be still and listen to Him, and find our rest in God’s goodness and love. Apart from Jesus, we can do nothing (John 15:5). As our verse for today says, love the Lord, pay attention to what He says, and cling to Him.” That is what gives us purpose in this life. So let us choose the best thing – to abide in Jesus, so that we may have fruitful lives for the Kingdom of God.

– Rejoicing in our Lord? Psalm 34:17 (ESV) reads, When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” In Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV), we are promised that “blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” God is good. He has been and will be faithful all the days of our lives. So let us, with every available breath, declare His marvellous works in our lives – to crush the voice of fear, doubt and anxiety. “For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods” (Psalm 96:3-4).

Pray:

Lord, we stand before You, feeling vulnerable and exposed, because to not lean on our own understanding is a scary place. To trust in an invisible God that I can’t control is a scary thing. BUT we know that You are the sovereign, all-knowing, all-powerful creator of this universe. We know this with our heads, but we realise that we need to be able to trust You with everything in us! That’s where we’re weak today. We want to ask You to do this miracle in our lives, Lord. Move our hearts, take away our insecurities and doubts. Knit us to You with as many chords as are needed to get us to a place where we can trust You. We know this is the only safe place for us, the only place of Your abundance. We say today with our mouths, and we pray that our hearts will follow and trust You! We want a trust relationship with You Lord, and we’ll do what it takes from our side to get there as well. Our hearts yearn for Your living waters. We know without this we are lost. Thank You, Jesus, that this is what You paid for on the cross. We appreciate it, and we look forward to living a closer walk with You every single day.

Father, thank You for this opportunity that we have to refresh our hearts and minds with the truth about our foundation, Jesus Christ. The basic principle of Christian living is a relationship with Jesus. Lord, please help us, guard us, protect us from getting distracted and wandering off in the ways of this world. Lord, stamp eternity onto our eyeballs. I pray this in Jesus’ Name.

Oh, dear Lord, I thank You. If I have just one word to say to You, I say thank You, because I know how powerful You are! I know how gracious and almighty You are! And even though being You are the Creator of heaven and earth, You want to be with us! You want a relationship with us and You care about us! I have seen Your hands on my life, day by day, and I can testify of Your existence. Your love is tremendous. So I pray God, that each one of us today would be reminded of Your glory. You ripped the curtain, You gave Your love, and You abide in us, wherever we go, You are with us! Thank You Lord, for Your presence with us. Thank You for Your love. Remind us that Your Holy Spirit enables us to open our eyes to see Your grace, Your glory and Your love. Make us strong. Be with us. In the name of Jesus Christ, we thank You, we thank You and we thank You.

Dear Father God, thank You so much for Your Holy Scriptures. Thank You, Jesus, for reminding us through John 10 that You are our Good Shepherd. We need to listen for Your voice, just like sheep who sometimes wander aimlessly. Despite all the bleating around us – the noise of this world, the noise within our own mind – we can hear You! Thank You for this opportunity – to in this moment come before You. In these few minutes, we can be reminded that You are with us. We can breathe You in, take a moment to listen for You, and breathe out all those things we are holding onto. You are the One that guides our path. No matter what plans we make, You are in control and that You are our Father God. Thank You so much for this opportunity to glorify You and worship You, and to know that You are there and that nothing and no one can snatch us out of Your hand.

Holy Spirit, You promise that You will remind us of what Jesus said. You will give us direction – showing us where to go and when to move. We call upon that promise, and ask that You glorify Yourself, and make Your name Holy in our lives. May Your will be done. Remove everything that’s an obstacle between us and You, and help build this trust Lord. Please do this trust miracle in our lives so that we can have a realhonest-to-goodness, trust relationship with You! In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
