Pausing to Celebrate!
Read:
Psalm 118:24 (ESV): “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it”.
Act:
Pause, be in the moment, and enjoy what God has given us. Let’s give thanks by celebrating the grace, goodness and provision we daily receive from our Heavenly Father.
We often get caught up – living either in the past, or striving for what the future holds. During this time of the year particularly, we can get entangled in regrets about the past or anxiety about the year ahead. But let us take time to pause and rejoice in TODAY – celebrating our lives, relationships, God’s creation, His children, daily provision, work, health, and the list goes on… I love how Jim Elliott puts it: “Wherever you are, be all there! Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God”.
May our new year’s resolutions include: making every day COUNT, being PRESENT in every moment, REJOICING and being GLAD, and GIVING THANKS to our Lord and Saviour in all circumstances. He is good, and His love endures forever.
Pray:
Dear Lord, we thank You that You have granted us the privilege of standing at the threshold of a new year. We recognise that You and You alone give us life; and that You direct our paths. Thank You that You brought us safely through 2021, and that we know that You will lead us into 2022. Despite how we often experience life as uncertain and difficult, we recognise that You have promised us that all things work together for our good. What an unspeakable privilege it is to be Your children, to dwell in Your shelter and to abide in Your shadow. We worship You as the King of kings and as the Lord of lords. We declare that this is the day and the year that You have made. We will rejoice and be glad in it! Amen.
Amen.
