Pausing to REFLECT…

Read:

Psalm 139:1-2 (AMP): O Lord, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up [my entire life, everything I do]; You understand my thought from afar.

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Ask God to help us reflect upon our lives and reveal any areas we need to change.
Self-awareness is needed to be well at the core of our being. We gain this by taking time to reflect (and what a beautiful time of the year this is for reflection). Reflecting at Jesus’ feet is essential – because that is where we discover the roots of the things we need to deal with in our lives. God knows us so well. But how well do we know ourselves – when it comes to our personality, beliefs, values, passions, strengths, weaknesses, etc.? Does pride perhaps hinder us from truly seeing and reflecting upon our lives?

May we take time today to ask God’s Holy Spirit to help us reflect and reveal areas where He can do a work of restoration and revelation. Let’s be open to change and transformation.

Pray:

Oh Lord Jesus, even as we realise that You know our every thought, word, and deed, we come asking You to reveal those areas we have pridefully hidden from ourselves. As we study Your Word and spend time in your presence, may we realise that it is not merely for our education but also for our transformation. We can have all knowledge, but without Your touch upon our lives, and our trust in You as Saviour and Lord, we are but educated fools.

Father, during this Christmas season, we reflect upon the sweet truth of the nativity – How You brought forth Your only Son, born of a young virgin, in the exact place You prophesied hundreds of years before. Then You allowed the angels to proclaim the birth announcement. Even though magnificent, the birth of Jesus would mean nothing without His death and resurrection as our Saviour and our Lord.

Jesus’ life, His death on a cross as a sacrifice for our sin, and His resurrection give us pause to consider the crucial difference He has brought in every area of our lives. Come, Lord Jesus, show us Your perspective of who we have become, so we may willingly and intentionally place every area of our lives under Your control. We love You, Lord. Thank You for showing us Your love through Jesus. In His precious Name, we pray. Amen.

Amen.
