Finding REST in Jesus…

Read:

Matthew 11:28-29 (NLT): “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Know that God is on our side and that Jesus provides REST for our weary souls.
The last two years have been tough. We have had to face uncertainty, change, grief, fear and anxiety. Ongoing stress can have a significant impact on our general well-being… Yet, our faithful and mighty God is always with us. When we put our hope in Him and Him alone, He will never let us down! In trusting Him as Lord over our lives, we can find rest to flourish in an always ‘on,’ consistently ‘demanding,’ and ever ‘changing world’.

It’s ultimately about a choice… A decision to say ‘yes’: to rest; pause; be still in the presence of our Saviour, and to pursue God first despite the worries and stress of this world. It’s to choose what our souls need and not be stressed BUT to be still and know that God is in control! (Psalm 46:10)

Let us take our burdens, worries and cares – and give them to Jesus. Let’s allow His peace that surpasses all understanding to rule our hearts, souls and minds. In that way, we will find rest – not in who we are, but Whose we are.

Pray:

Father God, we just want to thank You that You are God. Thank You that despite change, You are our constant. The Rock that we can build our lives upon; our steady foundation in times of uncertainty. Thank You that we can re-focus ourselves upon You. We can come to You with all our worries, anxieties and uncertainty. Thank You, that our souls can rest in You, our Redeemer. Even though things around us are uncertain, we can stand on the truth of who You are and rest in Your peace. We pray that you will help us with our anxious hearts, and when things become difficult, that you will guide us and lead us to Your loving arms. Help us to remain focused on You and not the stormy waves around us. Shine Your light and love through us to bring peace to those around us. May Your will be done, and may our lives glorify Your Holy name. We love You, Jesus. Amen

Amen.
