For the One…
Read:
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (NLT): “And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation”.
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Fill our hearts with the Word of God. Sometimes we may feel lost, broken or tired… But let’s remember that God’s Word is our guide, and the foundation for a God-first life that is aligned with His will, plan and calling on our lives. Through His Word we gain wisdom and understanding about who He is and how to live a life that glorifies Him. Through His Word we learn how to love, how to honour Him, how to worship Him, how to deal with tough situations, and how to find joy in midst of waiting or struggles. We discover how to allow His peace and hope to fill our hearts and minds. Through God’s Word we gain a better understanding of how to be His hands and feet here on earth.
Ask God to break our hearts for what breaks His. Are we willing to seek out that one person that may need our help today? Let us be diligent in praying for the salvation of at least one person right now. Let us pray for the healing power of our Lord Jesus to touch the one that needs it today. Let’s trust Him to bring peace to the one with a worried or anxious heart; to empower the one that needs strength to stand in faith; to bring hope to the one feeling defeated by life; and to bring patience to the one waiting for an answer or God’s direction. Let’s believe for God to show love to the one that feels alone or lost.
Pray:
Thank You Lord, that we know that we can always seek truth in Your Word. We can recognise what to cling to in our lives, and what we should throw away.
Lord, You want to give. You want to give more than we are even able to receive. You already did this by giving Your Son, Your only Son as the offering that gave us life. And so Lord, You allow us to ask for whatever we want. We pray that You would guide us by Your Holy Spirit so that we come to realise what Your will is for us. We can then ask according to Your will and know that we will receive accordingly.
Father, I pray for this lovely group of brothers and sisters; and I know that I am not the only one whose heart is broken today. But I am so grateful for You Jesus, the Son of man who stands with us in our sorrow. You have been there, You know what it’s like, You are not aloof and removed. I thank You that You stand with us in our grief, in our confusion. I thank You that in You there is hope. There is hope because nothing is impossible for our God.
God, I know that sometimes it is not easy to wait, in fact sometimes it’s the most difficult thing to do. But I pray that You will help us to zone into Your Word more – Your Word that teaches us to be patient. God, I prayer that we would learn to be more like Your Son Jesus, a true example of someone who practised patience and waiting on You. Help us to become more like Jesus. Bless us with wisdom and understanding, and the knowledge knowing that You have everything under control for whatever we are trusting You for. And if it is within Your will Lord, I pray that it will be done in Your time.
Father, thank You for this time. Thank You that we can be together in Your presence. We celebrate that we are reconciled to You Father; and we celebrate the fact that even now, You are seeking out those that are lost. Prompt us to reach out to those in our lives and around us – whether it be in a crowd, a group, or one-on-one. Father, help them to be reconciled to You. Lord, it brings us joy to do this work, this work that You have called us to do. So right now, as You bring up a name in our minds or hearts, of someone that we can pray for, or interact with, or reach out to, we will do so. Yes Lord, we ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Amen.
