W@W WRAP – Week 442

The Weight of Our Words—When Words Become Worship! – Thomas Merton wrote, “Our words are meant to be seeds, not stones.” Words hold power. They can plant life, or crush the spirit. They can stir healing, or ignite harm. Sometimes, the most compassionate thing we can say... is nothing at all. Silence, when born of love and not avoidance, becomes sacred ground. It makes room for presence, listening, and discernment. It teaches us to speak from love, not ego—to offer words shaped by grace, not reaction. In Jewish tradition, words are holy. God spoke creation into being. To speak, then, is to echo His creative power. Our speech is never trivial—it carries the weight of life or death (Proverbs 18:21). And before our words reach others, they reverberate through our own souls. (James 3:5–10)

W@W WRAP – Week 425

Selfless, Sacrificial Love – Jaco Strydom once said, “Love is most deeply expressed through vulnerability, shared in those moments when you're so close to someone that a whisper is enough.” True love isn’t shouted from a distance—it draws near. Love is more than an idea or emotion—it’s a way of life. Jesus taught that loving God and loving others are inseparable. The early Church lived this out through selfless community, sharing their lives and resources, reflecting Christ’s sacrificial love. Real love gives of itself. It requires vulnerability and the courage to risk being hurt, yet it does not mean being trampled on. Jesus demonstrated love that was both sacrificial and strong—freely given, yet unwavering in truth and dignity, always seeking the good of others. (Acts 2:44–47 & Philippians 2:3–4)

W@W WRAP – Week 412

Reacting Like the World or Responding Like Jesus? – When life brings hurt and disappointment, we are faced with a choice: Will we react like the world or respond like Jesus? While we cannot control the actions of others, we can control how we respond. Retaliation, anger, or self-pity may seem justified in the moment, but God calls us to a higher standard – to respond with love, kindness and grace. So, let us embrace Jesus’ call to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:9), reflecting His heart even in the most challenging situations. May we choose to honour God with our words, actions and attitudes, responding in ways that glorify Him. Remember, by walking in His truth and love, we reflect Christ’s character and bring light to a broken world. (Ephesians 4:31–32, James 1:19–20 & Proverbs 26:4)

A Different Perspective… – Have you ever wondered if your view of life differs from others? Do you often find yourself getting caught up in various perspectives, opinions, and the pains of this world, instead of seeing them from God's point of view? Let us ask our Lord today to help us redirect our thoughts towards Him and allow His Word to transform us. May we experience His unwavering faithfulness and boundless compassion, as we remain in Him, our source of hope, restoration, love and peace. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Praise be to the God of Comfort and Promises! – Have you ever been completely taken off guard by a situation in your life – something you truly don't understand and that presents a great challenge? You know those are times when you realise that Jesus is your Lord, and that He brings the promise of heaven, but right now, it hurts. In those times when we struggle to understand the ‘why,’ may we rejoice, knowing that God doesn't waste anything. May we hold on to His promises, knowing that His comfort, love, goodness and compassion bring healing and eternal hope. (Habakkuk 3:17-18)

This gives us security – we can rest in our Almighty God's presence as we trust Him to take care of our today and our tomorrow. We can walk boldly towards our unique purpose and everything God has called us to. May we open our Spiritual eyes to see Jesus' light, signs and wonders all around us, knowing that for Him, nothing is impossible! (Mark 6:39-46)

Hopeful Expectation! – Even though we face multiple challenges, there is always a spark of hope! Even in the depths of despair, even on discouraging days, we can know that our Lord is faithful. We have seen Him work before, and He will never disappoint us! We read in His Holy Word of the miracles He has performed since the beginning of time. We are loved by the God who created us, so why even question this? We can always have hope and great expectation for what God is doing in and through our lives! (Lamentations 3:18-25)

W@W WRAP – Week 304

What's down in your well? – There is an old proverb that says, "What's down in the well comes up in the bucket!" How true that is, not only with physical water wells, but also regarding the well-spring of our hearts. Perhaps we all need to evaluate whether we are responding to our life events in a way pleasing to Jesus, or reacting in a prideful, self-centred way. Are we drawing more of Jesus from our wells than we were last month, or even last week? (2 Corinthians 13:5)
