Our manual for life!

Read:

The Word of God was there from the beginning, the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1). Which means the Word does not only reveal God, it is GOD! God created the world and everything in it through His Word (Genesis 1). The Word became flesh and lived among us – we know Him as Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, God with us, our Lord and Saviour (John 1:14). God’s Word will not return empty. Still, it will accomplish the purpose for which He has spoken all things (Isaiah 55:11). The Word is God-breathed. It is useful for teaching us, rebuking us, correcting us, training us in righteousness, and equipping us for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

His Word is alive and active, it’s sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and the Word judges our thoughts and the attitudes of our hearts (Hebrews 4:12). His Word is flawless (Psalm 18:30) and is right and true (Psalm 33:4), and what a gift it is to know that His Word is planted inside of us (James 1:21) and we have been born again of His imperishable seed through His living Word (1 Peter 1:23). We are blessed when we hear the Word of God, obey it (Luke 11:28) and place our hope in it (Psalm 130:5) because His Word makes us wise (Matthew 7:24) and is the lamp to our feet and the light to our path (Psalm 119:105).

The Word is truth, and it sets us free (John 8:32) so that we no longer want to sin against Him (Psalm 119:11). His Word sanctifies us (John 17:17), it’s a shield for us (Proverbs 30:5), and we can wield it like a sword in our hardest moments (Ephesians 6:17)! We would be foolish to think that we can live on bread alone, because we also need to live on every Word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). His Word is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8), and will endure forever (Isaiah 40:8). Heaven and earth will pass away BUT the Word will be the last remaining thing (1 Peter 1:24-25).

Act:

May we be found in the Word of God as the foundation of our lives. The Bible records the wonder of God from beginning to end… Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning, God created…” to Revelation 22:20-21, “Amen. Come Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.”

So this week, may we:

Open our eyes and experience God, and Him speaking to us through His Word each day! God’s Word is a blueprint of His wisdom and grace, and it is His divine manual showing how to navigate through life! It’s about a perfect God who wants the best for each one of us. May we be diligent in how we read the Word, understand the Word, and share the Word!

Live our lives in such a manner that we exalt the Word of God in all that we do. Let us soak ourselves in His truth every day. The love we have for our Lord, and the reverence we hold towards His Word should be reflected in our actions and words. When our faith is displayed through our lives and reactions, others will come to know the saving grace of Jesus, the hope of the world. As Matthew 5:16 (NASB) reminds us, “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.

Be so aware of all God desires to do in our lives, that we intentionally spend quiet time with Him daily. May we read His precious Word! Whatever genre in the Bible we read (Law, History, Wisdom, Poetry, Gospel, Epistles or Prophecy), God can and will use His Word to strengthen our belief in Him and our relationship with Him. May we remember that time spent in God’s Holy Word is not about our education but our transformation. Becoming more like Jesus, putting on the armour of God and yielding the fruits of the Spirit only happen in our lives as we spend time with Him, reading His Word, lifting our praise and petitions to Him, and listening to His words of love and direction.

Know that the same power that enabled the lame man in Acts 3 to jump up and praise God is available to us. This is a marvellous reminder to open our eyes to the Truth of God and the Calling of Jesus. May we take the first step today – by spending time in God’s Word and in prayer. May we be alert to every opportunity to pray, to be obedient, and to love one another. We can be Jesus’ witnesses to a world that is blind, lame, deaf and mute to His life- and eternity-changing message! It’s all in His Word for each of us! May we read it, believe it, live it and share it!

Pray:

Father, let there be no condemnation, but only convictionno procrastination but instead preparation and actionno fear, but rather faith as we take our first steps now in prayer. Thank You for showering us daily with new opportunities and fresh beginnings. Please open our eyes to Your truth. In the name of Jesus.

Father in Heaven, we exalt Your name and we thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Please help us to love Your Word and live it out before You, to honour and glorify You.

Abba Father, thank You for the revelation, that changed my way of thinking and doing, of putting on the armour, and of living out the fruit of the Spirit. We praise You for Your goodness. We praise You for the detail with which You speak to each one of us. We love You, we honour You and we glorify You.

Father God, thank You so much for the gift of Your Word that is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. May we be good stewards by reading Your Word, learning Your Word, and understanding Your Word… so that we can share it with truth, with boldness and with courage. Lord, fill us afresh with a longing and a hunger for Your Word. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
