Undistracted passion

Read:

Luke 10:41-42 (TPT): The Lord answered her, “Martha, my beloved Martha. Why are you upset and troubled, pulled away by all these many distractions? Are they really that important? Mary has discovered the one thing most important by choosing to sit at my feet. She is undistracted, and I won’t take this privilege from her”.

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

PASSIONATELY PURSUE being in the PRESENCE of our Lord. Are you hungry to spend more time in God’s Word? Are you passionately pursuing time with our Father as the number one priority of your heart? Are you thirsty to know Jesus more – to be filled with His living water? As Jesus said to the woman at the well: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water that I give him will never be thirsty again. But the water that I give him will become in him a spring of water [satisfying his thirst for God] welling up [continually flowing, bubbling within him] to eternal life”. (John 4:13-14)

PRAY about everything. Our Father is never too far away to hear our cries. He is never too busy to attend to our needs. Let’s apply Philippians 4:6-7 to every situation: “Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ”.

PROCLAIM God’s PROMISES over our lives. We serve a dependable, faithful God. He cannot and will not ever go back on His promises. God said: “…I will not break my covenant; I will not take back one word of what I said.” (Psalm 89:34) The Bible is God’s Word. Memorise scripture and recite God’s promises to yourself often. Believe, with all your heart, that not one detail or word that God has spoken over your life will fail (Joshua 23:14).

PRAISE and worship our Lord! Let’s honour and worship God with admiration, joy and thanksgiving for all He has done for us. Let’s appreciate His mighty works and miracle-working power in our lives. Let’s rejoice and praise our Lord, for He alone is worthy to be praised.

Be intentional about using POSITIVE WORDS. Words have power! Proverbs 18:21 tells us “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose”. Let’s choose life today! Let’s choose to speak positive words of encouragement. Let’s speak life into the lives of others!

Pray:

Our Father in Heaven, we glorify You and give all honour and praise to You. Create a deep hunger in us, to dwell in Your PRESENCE. Give us a passion to sit at Your feet, Jesus. Help us to not be upset or troubled by the many distractions of this world. Grace us with focus on what is most important – to PASSIONATELY PURSUE being in Your PRESENCE; to PRAY about everything; to PROCLAIM Your PROMISES; to PRAISE and worship You; and to be intentional about only speaking life-giving, POSITIVE WORDS. Give us an undistracted passion to pursue You above all! In the mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
