Do not be a drifter
Read:
Hebrews 2:1 (NIV): “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away”.
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Praise God for His grace and mercy. Through Jesus, our Father God made it possible for us to draw close to Him. He extended unconditional love towards us – and mercifully paid all our debts, showered us with grace and gave us eternal life! Through Jesus, our Salvation, we can enter into an intimate relationship with our Father, and stand before Him blameless, as His chosen children.
Stay close to our Heavenly Father. Let’s make it a priority to keep God’s Word at the forefront of our minds – to ponder upon it day and night in our hearts, so that we may know our Father and follow the example and direction of Jesus.
Pay attention. In our fallen world, it’s so easy to get distracted and move our focus away from God’s principles. It’s so easy to believe what the world tells us about success, beauty, contentment, sin, etc. We so easily adapt to worldly standards and conveniently forget what God’s Word teaches us. As part of God’s family, we are to stay on course, pay attention, live intentional lives, and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. We must be careful to keep God’s Word (our guide), live it out and glorify God’s magnificent name in all we do.
Do life together! We don’t have to do it alone. God’s story of salvation is not a secret. We are to help and support each other. We are to learn from one another. We are to tell others about our good-good Father, about His grace and mercy, and about the unconditional love and the hope found in Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.
Pray:
Father God, thank You for Jesus. Thank You for hope and eternal life! Help us to stay focused! Help us to not drift away into the worries, tasks and things of the world. Thank You that through Jesus, we can come into Your presence. Please help us to not lose these extremely special moments by drifting away in our thoughts, by worrying about today, or by being ME-FOCUSED. Give us time to seek Your will, to pay attention to Your Word and to help others. Jesus, teach and lead us in Your ways. We want to live intentional, disciplined, GOD-FOCUSED lives for Your glory and renown; lives that reflect the beauty of Your gospel. In Your mighty name we pray. Amen.
