An intimate relationship

Read:

Psalm 63:1 (AMP): “O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You; My soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water”.

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Pursue a personal intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father. It’s only when we get to know our Father God that we experience His power, glory, goodness, grace and faithful love. It’s only by spending time with Him that we get to know Him and form an intimate relationship with Him. When we experience an intimate relationship with our Lord, everything changes – we cannot live a second without Him as our only source of living water.

Let the Word of God directs us. We can study and know the Bible word for word, but without an intimate relationship with our Father, the Word of God remains theological knowledge. We can know of or about God, without necessarily knowing Him personally for ourselves. When we have an intimate relationship with our Lord, His Word becomes living and active. That’s when His Word releases life, hope, promises and blessings over our lives. That’s when the Word of God guides and teaches us, and helps us to grow and become who our Father created us to be.

Truly trust God. Trust is the heartbeat of an intimate relationship. The closer we get to someone, the more we open up, and the more we get to truly know them. This closeness in turn leads to building more trust. By having an intimate relationship with God, we learn to trust Him, to depend on Him, to love Him and to obey His will. Once we experience an intimate relationship with our Father, our deepest longing will be to remain in His presence.

Pray:

Heavenly Father, You are mighty, wonderful, and glorious. We hunger and thirst for more of You. We worship and praise Your holy name. Our heart’s desire is to live in your presence God, having an intimate relationship with You. Thank You for showering us with your strength, grace, generous love and blessings. With deepest longing, we’ll continue to seek You first in everything. Please draw close to us, shine Your face upon us and give us Your peace this week. We love You Lord. Amen.
