Grace upon grace…
Read:
Ephesians 2:4-9 (NIV): “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast”.
Act:
Do we truly hear these deep truths in our hearts? We have a wealth of MERCY, GRACE is free, and that all, because of LOVE!! In Ephesians 2 verse 1, Pauls says: “…and you WERE dead…”
I love the contrast and the fact that he uses the word “were”. Past tense. That in itself means it’s no longer true… we WERE dead because of sin – enslaved in bondage to the lust of the flesh. However, our amazing, loving Father promises us HOPE and ETERNAL LIFE through the sacrifice, GRACE and LOVE of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Let us be determined this week to BELIEVE:
The best is yet to come! Our scripture highlights: “BUT GOD is rich in mercy!” Mercy is defined as: “Compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone”. Love is defined as: “An intense feeling of deep affection”. God, in His loving-kindness, has redeemed us and invited us into His family. Even though we don’t deserve this – He does it because He is rich in MERCY! Because of His amazing, great LOVE, we have HOPE! We can live in the knowledge that He has good plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11-13)!
LOVE and GRACE are our greatest undeserved gifts from God. Because of His all-surpassing, manifold, unending, never-failing LOVE for us, we have the privilege of living under His unmerited favour. GRACE empowers us to boldly step into the future that God has envisioned for us – to take bold steps of LOVE, to extend hope to the hopeless, to provide a lifeline to those in need, to bring a smile to sad hearts, to bring a shout of joy to the broken, to pray for the needy, and to bring light into the darkness we may face.
The prayer of my heart for this week is: May we live in the amazing LOVE and GRACE of a Father who loves us unconditionality, who treasures us as His most valuable creation, and who Has amazing plans for us to live the lives He created us to live – as we show His LOVE, GRACE and MERCY to a desperate and needy world.
It’s impossible to be a child of God, to live the life He has predestined for us, to have influence over others, to love on others, to serve God, and become all He created us to be, without LOVE and GRACE!
Pray:
Father God, we lay our lives down, surrendering all to You, our amazing hope-giving Lord. We welcome Your Mercy, Love and Grace into our lives! Help us to extend Your Love, Grace and Mercy to those around us! Father, thank You that we know that Your Grace, Mercy, and Peace will be with us, in truth and LOVE, for always!
Amen.
