Living in the Light
Read:
Psalm 139:7–8 (ESV): “Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to Heaven, You are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, You are there!”
John 8:12 (AMP): “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Walk in the light of Jesus Christ. May we allow God’s Word to illuminate our path, thoughts, actions and decisions.
Trust God’s presence in dark places. No matter how uncertain, painful, or overwhelming our circumstances may be, God is already there, ready to bring peace and perspective.
Reflect Jesus’ light through our words, actions and love for others. May our lives radiate kindness, truth and compassion in our daily interactions. Let us be intentional about encouraging, uplifting and serving others so that they, too, may experience the light of Jesus.
Hold fast to God’s promises. Even when it feels dark, let us remember that His truth never wavers.
Shine boldly! May we be visible witnesses of Jesus’ love for a world desperate for light.
Pray:
Father, I don’t know where we all are today, what our struggles are, what we’re facing, what we feel consumed by. But for those of us who are feeling guilt and shame about our own failings, I pray that You will encourage us today and remind us that we cannot go away from You. We think we’re withdrawing, but of course we’re not, because You’re there in the withdrawal and You see our hearts. So, help us to remember, God, that Your loving kindness and Your arms are always open to welcome us in, and that’s the best and safest place we can go. In Jesus’ Name.
Father God, Son and Holy Spirit, we bow our heads in adoration and thanksgiving for the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Help us to keep the cross at the centre of our lives, our families and our homes, our conversations, our friendships and at the centre of reaching out to others.
Lord, thank You for this beautiful day and for giving each of us a unique light to shine. Thank you for being our eternal source of power that never grows weary, even when we do. Make us sensitive to hear Your voice and help us to act in obedience so that we can draw others closer to You. Sometimes we are quick to come up with excuses and say you can’t use us, because we are not as good as someone else, or we have too many flaws. Thank You that we can know that You determine our worth, and as a child of God, we are super valuable. Lord, we pray all of this in Your holy Name.
Oh Lord Jesus, it’s such a delight, Lord, that You have revealed Yourself to each one of us. We thank You, dear Lord, that You have saved us from our sins. You took our sins upon Your body on that cross, redeeming us, setting us free from sin and death once and for all. Lord, we rejoice in that. And dear, Lord, I just pray, Lord, as we go about our lives, Lord, would You give us the opportunity to give an account for the hope that we have in You. What a thrill it is, Lord, to share about You, Lord, what an honour and a privilege. We love You, Lord. Hear our prayers in the Name of Jesus.
Lord Jesus, You are the Light of the world and the Light of my life. Where Your light is, there is no fear, no confusion, no darkness that can remain. Help us to walk in Your truth daily and reflect Your glory wherever we go. Let Your light shine through us to bring hope, healing and salvation to those still walking in darkness. In Your name we pray, Amen.
Consider where in your life you need God’s light to shine right now—and how can you reflect that light to someone else this week?
