The Lord is my strength!

Read:

Psalm 18:1–3 (NLT): “I love You, Lord; You are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and He saved me from my enemies.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to:

Praise God for both mountaintop highs and valley lows. Mountaintop moments remind us of God’s power and presence, but it’s in the valleys that our faith is tested, refined and deepened. The valleys represent the struggles of life – fears, disappointments, battles, and hardships. While the mountaintop is where we experience God, the valley is where God meets us. We may not enjoy our time in the valleys, but these are the times when our faith grows strongest. It’s in the struggles that we learn to lean on God as our strength, rock and refuge. As David reminds us in Psalm 23, even when we walk through the darkest valleys, we need not to fear, because the Lord is with us. He leads us beside still waters and restores our souls. He is our Shepherd, and with Him, we lack nothing.

Stand firm on the promise that our Lord will never leave or forsake us – He is with us, providing the strength to climb the mountain and journey through the valley. In John 16:33, Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Life is full of valleys (trials, strained relationships, financial struggles), but we don’t have to face them alone. God doesn’t watch from afar; He walks with us through every challenge, guiding and strengthening us. Our strength comes from Him, and in every valley, we can trust that He is our solid rock, place of peace and firm foundation.

Remember that while our mountaintop moments are precious, they are not the end of the story. It is in the valleys of life where our faith is put into action.

Pray:

God, forgive us for not trusting in You and allowing our fear and lack of understanding to interfere in Your plans. Holy Spirit, help us to develop a level of faith where, despite our fear, we choose to be filled with joy as we put our trust in God and wait patiently for Him to rescue us and fulfil His promises in our lives. In the name of Jesus, we pray.

Lord, thank You for coming down to earth so that we could be saved. And thank You for Your promise, Lord, that You will come down one day, to come and fetch us, and that this world is not our home. You actually want to meet with us. You want to share Your heart with us, but You also want to encourage us to get down again into the mud, into the valleys, so that people can find You as their Saviour.

Lord, I pray for each of us that we will not be scared to climb our mountain and to do things for You so that You can be honoured and glorified. We pray it in the name of Jesus.

Our Father in Heaven, thank You that we may know that You are a sovereign God. You’re a good God. You hold the world in Your hands. Help us cast our cares and truly cast them as far as we can. Nourish our souls with Your Word. Thank You that we have Your Word and may we keep our minds set on You. In Jesus’ name.

Dear Lord God, we just thank You Lord, that we can depend on You. You are our rock. Lord, so many changes and shifts around our lives, Lord, and sometimes we get caught out by things, and sometimes we feel like we’re sinking down. But Lord, we need to remember, like David, he called out to You, and he praised You, and he said, “Lord, I love You. You are my strength.” I pray, Lord, that each of us would know that You are our rock, totally dependable. We won’t sink with You because You are sustaining us, loving us and holding us. We just thank You, God, that we can know You. Thank You, Jesus. In Your precious name. Amen.
