In Awe of You!

Read:

1 Chronicles 16:23-29 (NIV): “Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendour and majesty are before Him; strength and joy are in His dwelling place. Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His Name; bring an offering and come before Him. Worship the Lord in the splendour of His holiness.”

Act:

Let us be determined this week to bring glory to our Heavenly Father with grateful hearts.
As we stand in awe of Him, may we remember to:

Fear and respect our Lord. This reverential fear of the Lord is not a fearful or scared feeling but a deep awareness of His sovereignty. It entails understanding and acknowledging His supreme power, holiness, authority, love, goodness and righteousness. This knowledge ultimately leads us to live a life of obedience and alignment with God’s purpose and will – loving Him and serving Him with all our hearts and souls (Deuteronomy 10:12). May we never cease to stand in amazement before our almighty, all-powerful Father and honour Him by desiring to let go of sin, and aligning our actions and behaviours with His instructions, teachings, guidance and principles.

Seek moments of stillness before our Lord. Being fully immersed in the presence of our almighty God fosters a deep spiritual connection, promoting reverence, humility, and a heart filled with thankfulness and devotion. This encourages us to continuously uplift His name, offering praise and recognising His unwavering faithfulness and abiding goodness. In these tranquil moments, we find a profound sense of peace, firmly rooted in His grace and boundless love. So, may we once again become still and know (recognise and understand) WHO God is and exalt Him amongst all nations and throughout the whole earth (Psalm 46:10).

Express our gratitude for our Lord’s steadfast love, goodness and faithfulness that will never fail us, His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). As we worship God every day of our lives, let us prioritise prayer, listening, speaking, believing and resting at the feet of Jesus. May we allow Him to do a transformative work in our hearts by filling us anew with His love, hope, faith, joy, compassion, kindness, self-control and obedience. This will make us more attractive reflections of His grace and character, enabling us to be the best ambassadors for His Kingdom here on earth.

So, on this day, may our hearts overflow with reverential awe and thanksgiving, as we declare: “Oh Lord, my God. When I, in awesome wonder, consider all the worlds Thy hands have made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed. And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in. That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. And when Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow, in humble adoration and then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art. Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee! How great Thou art! How great Thou art!” (How great Thou art by Stuart Hine, Adam Palmer, Matthew Hein and Stephanie Kulla)

Pray:

Dear God, how mighty and amazing and powerful You are! You made the earth and all that is in it! You hung the moon and put the stars in place. You keep the sun exactly where it is so it doesn’t burn us, but gives us warmth and light. You made our bodies so intricate and complex. You can do anything You want – You are awesome! Please keep that before us as we strive to follow after You and obey You. Thank you for loving us even though we were and are sinners, and now we are saved by Your grace. We love You, Lord.

God, the simplicity and the complexity of Your truth never cease to amaze us! Help us to take Your wisdom and apply it to our daily lives.

Heavenly Father, thank You for WHO YOU ARE. Thank You for Your goodness, for Your kindness, Lord. Thank You for Your mercy. Thank You that You see every one of us. Lord, will You help us focus on our inside and not the outside? Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ name.

Dear God, thank You for caring for us. Thank You for this time to be together in Your name. May we always and every day intentionally make time to BE WITH You and understand You more, as we read in Psalm 119:1 (MSG): “You are blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God. You are blessed when you follow His directions, doing your best to find Him.” Let us remember the following: Pray – God is listening; Listen – God is speaking; Believe – God is faithful; and Rest – God is working.

Father God, thank You for WHO YOU ARE. Thank You for the many ways you demonstrate your love for us and how the Holy Spirit moves in our hearts when we take time to be still with You. Let us remember to abide in You, to focus on You, to glorify You, exalt You and magnify You. May Your Holy Spirit fill our wells and equip us for each day to live in awe and gratefulness for WHO YOU ARE. In Jesus’ name, Hallelujah and Amen.
